Blues Brothers and Caddyshack are two of only a handfull of movies that will stop my channel surfing dead in its tracks.

The Original Blues Brothers is an EXCELLENT movie.
There are MANY great quotes.
They drive over Nazi trash on a bridge!
Most awesome police chase in a movie EVER
The blues brothers defined what was "cool" for an entire generation.

All this "back in its day it was good" talk is utter garbage. Lots of movies nowadays suck. Classics like The Blues Brothers are timeless. That being said. My favorite movie ever is The Outlaw Josey Wales.

In all honestly, if you didn't enjoy the movie, then you just have different taste than most people. But to not "get it" at all, perhaps you weren't paying attention to it? Maybe you were too drunk? Maybe you were too sober?
It's not supposed to be all dramatic like say, Shindlers list, It's just a great fun movie, kinda like how Indiana Jones movies are corny as hell, but still wonderful films loved by millions.

I thought Caddyshack was dumb and boring. Guess I need to take up pot smoking or something.

Is the Blues Brothers 2000 just as bad?

Whoever wrote that recycled burning flaming E. Coli infected piece of rotting monkey vomit should have their balls ripped off by Loretta Bobbit and burned so they can never reproduce. after which, their arms should be bitten by rattlesnakes so they get all gangrene and have to be amputated so they can never write again. Upon their death, they should have their soul stripped and eaten by Shang Tsung and then have their lifeless body cut to pieces ans scattered in various volcanic locations across the globe so that they will come back reincarnated to write Snakes on a Plane II: Amazon Airbus.
I so much wanted to like BB2000 when I first heard about it, but after 10 minutes I knew that the only thing that could have saved it was if Akroyd had gotten Jim Belushi and split the writing duties. Between the two of them, they might've made something John would appreciate.

When I found out that was the plan but Jim already had projects scheduled, I wanted to stab whichever executive greenlit the movie instead of waiting for him to be available.

It's not every day you get to see a movie with a car chase 180mph down the streets of Chicago. Yes, they actually WERE going 180mph, too. :D

I can't for the life of me figure out why this movie is considered such a classic

EDIT:

I'm seem to have struck a nerve :p

It's just a (bad) movie!

You'll smoke a turd in hell for that!:|
