Blue Screen of F****** Death!

Right, my computer was restarting 1-3 times a day. So I turned off Reboot on Error. Now I'm getting the BSOD like 3 times a day and its driving me nuts. It gives me a different error every bloddy time. I've broke my desk in temper cause of it.

I've alreayd done a memory test, what else could I try? What else could it be?
 
BIOS flash?

What current PCI devices are you using? Try re-arranging PCI devices. My buddy had the same problem as you, rambus etc. He went from Audigy 1 to Audigy 2, it seldom get reboots.


 
BSOD could be a hst of things from hardware devices to ram errors....

List all votages reported and set...

Ie
12v
5v
3.3
etc

along with
vagp
vdimm
vcore

Also list temps...Lets try to rule out power and heat then look at other things...

For memory run memtest86 if you BSOD often with no programs running (while you are out) then it is likely it will error tremendously...
 
If you are getting a variety of random BSODs I am going to go on a very thick and safe limb and say RAM is your problem. How many passes did you let memtest run? memtest isn't perfect and may miss things anyhow. If you have more than one stick of RAM, remove one and run one at a time to see if you can stop the errors. If removing a stick fixes the problem, you have found the bad RAM. If not, try the other stick. It's possible that something else is the problem, but more often than not a variety of seemingly random BSODs is a near sure sign that there is some bad RAM.

Well almost 3 days and no Blue Screen. Do you think its safe to say its the RAM i took out? Maybe it wasn't seated correctly? I have the chance to get the place I got the RAM months ago to replace it, do you think I should do that or wait a few more days?
 
I would say that's pretty much the case. You can either wait a little longer, or try to reproduce any error you may have gotten before. If running a certain program always caused a BSOD, run it a few times. Though I'd think it was a pretty safe bet that RAM was the problem. You could also try placing it back, making sure it is seated properly. Also, you could try a different RAM slot on the motherboard, as that could also have been the problem.

Right, I gave each RAM card a weeks test each and BOTH were fine. I put them both back in together and it Blue screened the same day!

I've now put the cards in Ram Slots 1 and 3. Do you think its safe to say that its actually RAM slot 2 on the mobo thats causing the bluescreen?
 
Have you checked out the error codes on the Microsoft support website? Are you overclocking? When does it crash - when you're playing games?
 
make sure you put the ram in the correct slots, double sided on banks 0 and 1 and SS on 2, if it pertains to your board.
 
Oh thats just bloddy f****** great. It blue screened again. It only does it when both cards are in there. What the F*** DOES THAT MEAN?????????ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

It can crash at any time, sometimes just left idle. Different Error codes all the time. Mainly the Video Error though. No I have not overclocked! Sooner or later i'll take a baseball bat to the damm thing!
 
i'm 99% sure that you have corrupt RAM..get new ones....


just to make sure, run memtest....google search "memtest"...burn it on a bootable cd-r...run it for each stick of ram overnight...

there you'll get proof which stick is causing the problem

i didn't have a similar problem, but one time i was installing windows and it would skip a different file each time...eventually, i took out one defective piece of ram and it worked...it even installed correctly when using the other defective ram.....but never installed when i used both......
i had to use memtest to verify which ram was defective

Hi,

Done a Overnight Memory check on both sticks. 0 errors found. I've now stuck one stick on its own in Bank 2 to see what happens! What the hell could this be?

Btw, i've also noticed that when both sticks of RAM are in together I get a lot of CRC errors on files when unraring or unzipping. I also notice that some files are actually corrupt when i download them.

Btw, one stick is Infineon and one is Samsung. Does that matter? They've been working fine for months until recently!
 
I'm having problems as well, my system just keeps freezing. This is after 18 months of ZERO/Minor problems. Can you buy new stick of RAM and test it out? I have an old motherboard with a bad RAM slot. Yours sounds like bad RAM, can RAM just go bad all of a sudden?

I still have yet to figure my problem.
 
i personally don't recommend running 2 different brands together. Not all sticks of ram play nicely with each other.
Hence the reason you can run either one separately but not together.
I've had the same symptoms on customers pc's, and once i ran 2 identical sticks, no problems.
see if you can get a matching pair to try.

I'll take one stick back to the shop and get another Matching Pair. I bought both from the same place. One stick a year ago and the other 4 months ago. They said they would replace it though!
