Blue Screen of Death

halfpower

Senior member
My Windows XP install is crashing a lot. I think it is being shutdown by the BIOS. It does not happen while I am at the computer, only when I leave it and come back. My reasoning is that this is some sort of timed thing. Perhaps it is related to the screen saver. The only other weird thing is that my BIOS post screen seems to be a little bit shorter. This might be unrelated.

Does anyone know why I am getting the Blue Screen of Death?

I would start by disabling all power saving options and work from there. Make sure hibernate or standby aren't enabled and make sure the hard drive and monitor aren't set to shut down.
