Blue Screen of Death VMM(01) error

I keep getting this message on the blue screen of death:
FileName: VMM(01) + 0000dc99 Error
What is the VMM(01) file used for? An educated guess would be welcome
I think it may have something to do with Directx7a. Is there a way to uninstall and reinstall Directx7a ?

I have a PIII800 EB
320 meg 100mh ram
Asus P3v4x Motherboard
Diamond Viper Ultra 3d card

I tried reflashing my bios and
updating my video card drivers

A few ideas:

Make sure you have all the latest reference drivers (M.B.,Video ect.) and M.S. patches.
Try a different stick of ram.
Slow down your ram timings (set BY SPD)
Bump your CPU core voltage a tenth of a volt.
Is it running hot?
