Blue Screen of death after overclocking cpu, but why?

cpu: Intel core 2duo E8600@ 3.33Ghz
motherboard asus p5k,
my ram is 6GB @800Ghz.
ati x1950 pro

when every time i tired overclocking cpu from 400-540 MHz, after re-boot, i keep getting " blue screen of death / blue screen" if not that then windows keeps restarting over and over!

Is that your RAM that you are trying to OC there? 400FSB would be 4ghz, 540 would be 5.4ghz...

I can already see several mistakes you made that the guide warns about... there is no point in even trying to help you until you take the time to give yourself a basic education in overclocking.

My first time overclocking ever was using that guide... and I got a nice OC very quickly and on my first try thanks to following it.
