Hello, I posted this same exact thing on another forum and it didn't really help. My friend pointed me to this form. I'll copy and paste my same message and i'll list my computers specs below:
Hello, I recently designed and built a top of the line comp for my dad. So all hardware is brand new. When i play the online game Shattered Galaxy I recieve the blue screen which the computer either freezes or restarts. Also fire fox just recieved a random error when i was posting this but that is another story. I have updated the video drivers. I took a picture of the blue screen so i will post exactlty what it said hoping that it will help.

ok here's what i'm running:
Evga nForce 680i SLI
Intel's Quad core cpu.
150 gig 10,000 rpm x2 hard drive
XFX Geforce 8800 GTS
Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS
2 gigs of OCZ 1000MHz ddr2

thats all the information that i think is crucial atm.

i've been getting blue screen more often now when i play SG but it restarts before i can read it. i hope we can figure something otu

Can you get into safe mode? Try uninstalling your wireless card's driver. Wind502u.sys, according to Google, refers to a wireless device driver.

i'm sure i could get into safe mode, i have not done it yet thought. what i have done was install the most recent version of the wireless adapter. it's sorta an old one but it's pretty good. i had it on the comp before this which was 2000 pro and worked great. now i'm on windows xp pro and now i'm gettin errors. is this the cause? should i still uninstall and install it?

That error message is pointing towards that particular file and when I do a Google search for that file it says it is apart of a wireless device driver. I suggest removing it and trying to find one that works.

Just to be safe, you should do a memtest 86+ from floppy. While it does appear to be the old wireless card not being assigned a workable IRQ, this is the basic first step on IRQ less than errors. On your mobo/RAM, you could be running too low VDIMM.

Unzip to floppy, insert and set bios boot order to floppy first, run cycle 3 times

But some gioofy USB device is usually the culprit nowadays. Thats why they put the "legacy USB" option in bios for KB and mouse and floppy

The IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL error occurs when a device requests that an IRQ level is increased (usually to signify to the system/CPU it needs attention). This error occurs if the device requests the IRQ level to be increased to an IRQ level that is equal to or below the level it is currently at.
This is a sign of ACPI not working properly, as it usually occurs when an IRQ is being a shared and ACPI has got confused as to which device is trying to increase the shared IRQ level.

There are 2 ways to attempt to fix this - diagnose current IRQ config and manually assign IRQ's differently in bios (kind of advanced stuff)
Or, move wireeless card to a dif slot hoping it would be assigned lower or separate IRQ.

The easiest thing would be to just buy another late model card, take that antique card and trash it. It does not know how to dance with your very late 680i bios, and Win XP SP2's 24 IRQ's.

hah wew, thats the most information i've received, thank you very much. I'm actually using a wireless adapter via usb. I was told that it was very good. if i were to use a pci slot one i wouldn't get much signal up here, the adapter is in a good spot for signal. would you recommend me getting a new usb one? I have a 802.11g adapter, what steppin it up to the 802.11n what that help in anyway.?

Now i don't want to sound stupid, but some of the things you have mentioned are actually a lil confusing to me and i have not dealth with.
1. I do have roxio easy media cretor 8, although the errors occured before i installed it. the whole acpi.sys and ntfs.sys, i would not know how to go about looking for that.
2.i don't know where to look in my os to make it pnp and where to disable com. i remember seeing it before but i haven't dealt with it in a while. also i believe i only have one pci slot which is taken up by sound card, the video card is taking up the pci-e.
3.what does the tax system recource programs do?
4.is there anyway to tell with bad ram? i didn't htink the computer would run with bad ram. also i think i got fairly quality ram, idk if OCZ is bad or not.
5. all devices is brand new, how would one free up IRQ's
6. i did number six, still need to reboot for that one.

FWIW-
The pnp o/s enable or disable option is not avail in your bios

you can also try ESCD (reset sys config data - pge 112 manual) "enabled" in bios - this is a toggle - after you turn it on and boot it will revert back to off
Disabling the com (serial) port is also in bios, page 109 manual
I'm too lazy to download manual for your evga, but you want to disable in bios all USB that are not used by your wireless adapt - You may have both USB 1.0 and 2.0
You need to make sure APIC is on in bios (manual pge 92)
You need to make sure ACPI is enabled - page 110 manual

Your situation in a nutshell........
Basically, you have an older USB device that ran on an older system (Win2000) on an older mobo.
Your usb adapter may be usb vers. 1.0 (1994) or 1.1 (1996), not current 2.0 (2000)
You now have a newer op system XPSP2 (I hope), a much newer bios and a much newer mobo (chipset)
You dont need a newer protocol, but a CURRENTLY made adapter that has compatible drivers. It would APPEAR that the usb device bus IRQ allocation MAY be conflicting with your vidcard IRQ, or else the vidcard freeze is a separate prob.

If you wish, you could go into programs/accessories/system tools/system info and post the Hardware IRQ list here, or just make a screenshot and upload it to www.image-shack.com
and post the link here

and if you want to see the error message:
Open System in Control Panel.
On the Advanced tab, under Startup and Recovery, click Settings.
Under System Failure, select the check boxes that correspond to the actions you want Windows to perform if a Stop error occurs:- do not restart (reboot)

ah k, well thank you for your helpful replies. i did the ESCD thing. apic and acpi are enabled and were already enabled. i haven't done everything you suggest yet, but i will. i took a ss of the IRQ and will post it below. hah thanks ya quad core, this is def not my comp but the one my dad had me design and build. this whole problem thing happening is making me look bad and very frustrating.

O.K., I've posted prob way more than I needed to up to now - even for me!


So lets recap.... (and keeping it short as possible)
You have a wireless USB prob - definitely is the IRQ less than or equal thing
a. Drivers (non WHQL?)
b. USB IRQ sharing not working
c. Buggy Nvidia USB bus driver version (tho you seem to be using MS generic currently)
Note you have 3 items sharing #20 and #23, NORMALLY this is O.K.

You also have a gaiming prob, and the game is ONLINE, which may involve the wireless, you didnt say. Or it could very well be the Audigy Soundcard - you must get the very latest drivers for that monstrosity.

So what to do? (In order)
ASUS USB wireless adapt have probs (chip related)

So you MUST BUY ANOTHER ADAPTER - the latest model you can find - check reviews for it on google and look for "install went smoothly". And it must be FULLY USB 2.0 compliant.

It does not pay to spend hours trying to make lead into gold.
You seem to be resisting this because your current device "worked great before".
After you fix the IRQ prob, THEN you can go after the vidcard prob if still there

You MUST run memtest 86+ at least three loops from floppy with zero errors
The adapter may be trying to access bad memory range.
You MUST check do not restart after error, to see bluescreen
AND YOU MUST UNHOOK THE WIRELESS ADAPTER TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS
If theres still an IRQ prob, you know its the USB root
If so, check disable in this profile both 4 external and 4 internal USB roots in device manager/properties, or disable all in bios.
You can try to game online without the wireless with the onboard NIC.

The USB architecture has two parts:

* Host Controller - this is the hardware on the computer's motherboard that is responsible for initiating the USB transactions between the USB device and the PCI bus.

* Root Hub - this is the connecting point for USB devices to the PC.

The Host Controller is designed to be compliant with the Universal Host Controller specification or the Open Host Controller specification. Microsoft provides software drivers for most USB hardware. For the Host Controller:

I had this Motorola WU830G adapter with the Envara chipset in it. Don't get it.

Get a new adapter.

Just search for wind502u online, it won't take you more than 1 minute if you use your brain to realize that this is a problem with the driver, and it never has been/never will be fixed, since the manufacturer of said chipset (Envara) has been bought by Intel, which EOL'd the chipset.

So just get a new adapter.

wow you guys are great, thank you for putting so much effort into helping me. I will def get a new wireless adapter and make sure it's a good one. also if i'm getting a new one should i just get a 802.11 n anyway? guess i would have to check to see if my wireless router is 802.11 n as well. also i've been experiencing this error a lot while playing SG and i've def re installed sg a few times, i've contacted the game company and waitin to here back from them. i'm wondering if the wireless adapter is causing it as well.
