I had gotten this on shutdown. Do you beleive it to be a large disk/cache error??? I have a 13gig WD as primary master and a 30 gig Wd as slave on the same. AMD Athlon 550 on a Gigabyte board, 128 megs of PC100. It has never done this before so I am wondering if I have cause for concern, ie., it states all files will be lost??? Other than that I am dead stable so far on Win98SE.

Edit: A thorough scan disk shows nothing. Neither does systm file checker. I have not used WD's utility yet. So whats your guess???

I'm getting this too, but usually only when I shut down after playing Quake 3 on-line. Haven't seen any adverse effects yet, but it is certainly annoying. I'm using 2x13gb Maxtor ATA33 drives in a RAID 0 array on a hacked promise card.

Appreciate the reply. Now that I am home from work, I am going to research this further. Any other suggestions as to the cause of this would be appreciated.

Are your games disk intensive ?
do they create large swap files ?
If so, relocate swapfile to a Seperate Physical HDD not a partition.
Just a small HDD to hold all that overhead created during the swapping

Forgot to incluhde this try running Verifier.exe,it is on your OS CD and probably your HDD. it will track unusual activity in the memory and amongst the kernel modules.
At the minimum look at it and read about it.
go to start->run->type verifier then run it.
