i need some serious help here. i just built my own pc (with this sites help). any way the famous blue screen has been popping up recently and ive just relilsed that there is a series of events that task place piror to the blue screen. it usually happens when im on bf2 and all of a sudden i here well i guess the standard error sound from vista. the game freezes and the blue helo pops up and starts moving, but the screen is frozen in bf2 and the sound is also frozen in bf2. so the only way to that i know is to ctrl-alt-delete out of bf2. so it does i pick the task manager and end the bf2.exe process. bf2 closes down and thats when the blue screen pops up and u know the rest. the last time i did it i choose to log off. this actually gave me a little bit of a chance to see what that error noise was but the only thing i can see is a blacked out desktop and the full taskbar. in the **taskbar** i saw a second bf2 window that said memory error im guessing thats what the original sound was from. thats the only thing i see. and then the same thing happens, blue screen. i wish i could tell u what the blue screen says but it goes away so fast

anymore info please just ask this is really pissing me off since i payed so much for this and it was all good until a week ago.

Please help!?!!?

If its your first build, i would monitor temps. Especially, if its happening during heavy load.

I hate windows for that blue screens. I think these are the worst type of errors and I alway have to re-install windows.

Bad/weak PSU? Faulty memory or video card? Forget to plug in the 6 pin cable on your video card?

Too bad it's not Windows' fault.

Why would you reinstall Windows?

Every OS has some version of a kernel panic. If they didn't, you would be *very* unhappy.

Maybe try loading the system with Orthos or something, and see if you can replicate the BSOD outside of BF2. It would be easier to monitor temps and other parameters that way.

If I had to put money on something, I would say faulty ram. Give Memtest a run over night and see if it comes up with any problems.

Download orthros from the first post here.

For memtest, you download the ISO from here. You have to then burn it to a CD and boot it from start up.

Here is a simple & free ISO burner if you don't have one already: Active ISO Burner

Also, if I am deciphering your error message correctly, it looks like you have old drivers installed for your x-fi. Get these: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi series Vista Driver 2.15.0003

One more thing. Make sure you have the latest BIOS (F6) for your motherboard:
http://tw.giga-byte.com/Suppor...el.aspx?ProductID=2626

And another thing.. it looks like you are using nvidia 162.22 drivers... the latest official drivers are 163.69
Be sure to install new video drivers cleanly every time! Use Driver Sweeper.
* Use the official uninstaller(s) of the driver(s) you want to uninstall.
* Use Driver Sweeper and select what to clean.
* Press the clean button.
* Reboot your PC.

I thought it was a windows fault because all hardware is also included in package of OS+ hardware. More often my Cd-ROM or network card caused this but I still like to have Linux or other OS.
