blue LEDs, what specs do i need??

found some at radioshack but dunno if it work for computers...i got a kt7-raid in a sx1030 if it makes a difference...whoever tried it can you tell me which ones you used?? thanks

What are you planning to do with the blue LEDs? Are you building a baybus or are you changing the power/HD led?

If you're building a bay bus, make sure that you put the right resistors with the blue LEDs (depending on how many volts) e.g. blue LED is 5V 30mA Then you would need:
(12V - 5V)/.03A = 233.33 or more ohms <--- resistor.

The typical DC output is 12V (yellow and 1 black wire) or 5V (red and black wire).

If you are using them to replace the power and HDD lights someone else used 5V from radio shack. ColdFusion718 if you are from UCDMC were almost neighbors.

I replaced the HDD and light with blue LED's from Radio Shack on my system. (KT7 nonRAID with an Enlight 7237.)

You want Radio Shack part # 276-311: 5mm, 5 volt, 30mA, 300mcd.

hey, i'm from UCD too!! anyways, i wanna replace the power and hdd lights with the ones from radioshack...the 5volt, 30mA ones...do i need a resistor or just solder it onto the wire??

Changing out the LED's on the Enlight 7237 couldn't be easier. I just carefully pulled out the stock ones with needle-nose pliers. The ones from Radio Shack have much longer connection wires but I just eye-balled them against the stock ones and snipped to size. Then I slipped them in. One didn't light up so I shut off my system and reversed it. That fixed that problem and I was done.

Fatdog: You're more than welcome. By the way, I had blue and red LED's at first. However, the blue looks so sharp that I swapped out the red LED for a second blue one.

Sweet.. the blue led's are nice. I switched the power light in my old p75 compaq to the blue one.. and it looks nice.. the thing is, is that the blue is right next to the hd light (green) and since it's so much brighter than the green it looks real nice (almost cyan) when the hard drive starts to spin.. you can get really nice effects with those leds..

Just installed my blue LED, and it is amazing how bright and brillant the blue light coming from this LED is!

no, just use the radio shack 5v ones. I just dropped mine in and it works fine, no resistors or any messing like that. It's been that way for like 4 months now.

nickburns: I gave all the specs and RadioShack part number in my post above. Obviously a 5v LED performs just fine as a replacement for hard drive light.

I just installed my 5 Volt Blue LED's from Radio Shack, and they really kick ass. I definately think they are worth the $3 I spent on them.

i just got some 5volt blue ones too...i also found some 2.1 or 2.something volt blue ones in radio shack...anybody tried those?? and i forgot to look while i was in radioshack, but does anybody know if they have 1.5v .015A LEDs? need them to for a baybus

I used the red 5v for my hdd light in my Enlight 7237, and it works just fine.

For the antex sxxxx cases 3 mm work better. YOu can just put them in teh retentin thingy. 5mm is kinda big.
