Scrolling by real fast I though I saw Blue Balls Ice Cream.

Perhaps that's the reason for the recall.

Good. I figured it would go that direction when they kept finding more and more positive samples. I remember a bunch of people died from Listeria a few years ago when a cantaloupe farm in Colorado was using improperly cleaned equipment.

I received a Recall notice for Sabra Hummus dip earlier this month due to the exact same concern.... listeria contamination.

I'm thinking something bigger is going on that is causing this listeria contamination in multiple products.

I was actually at the grocery store not 4 hours ago deciding whether to continue with my go-to Ben & Jerry's chocolate chip cookie dough or save money with Blue Bell. Decided to go with Ben & Jerry's -- would have ate either one the same evening. It's a miracle...

Sounds srs. :ninja:

Last week I bought (and munched) a Blue Bell ice cream sandwich, figuring any recalled products wouldn't be on the shelf in the first place. I suffered no ill effects.

:hmm: Maybe they could market listeria as "healthy bacteria" like yogurt cultures. :awe:

Kind of strange that most of the people that got sick were already at a hospital. :hmm:

So is this a second recall?

About a month ago, only a certain few flavors were recalled. Then a few weeks after that, the grocery near me took out ALL flavors. Last week, I went to that grocery store and they had blue bell again with a sign saying these are new batches that are safe, etc.

And then yesterday I see the article about recalling, so is this a second full recall different from a few weeks ago?

They have not pinpointed the source of the listeria, so they are being safe until the find it.

“At this point, we cannot say with certainty how Listeria was introduced to our facilities and so we have taken this unprecedented step. We continue to work with our team of experts to eliminate this problem.”

You've never seen the inside of a food production plant, have you? There's no conspiracy, just human nature running amuck :D

I was in our local grocery store the other day right when 3 store employees came by with carts... to grab all the Bluebell in the freezer. I asked them if they were going to ship it back. He said nope, will probably just throw it out....

:'( I was like... Can you just... give me some of those? I'll sign a document saying I can't sue you if I roll-over and die from it!

"they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women."

I am a dude, relatively healthy, fuck yeah.

"The products being recalled are distributed to retail outlets, including food service accounts, convenience stores and supermarkets in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Wyoming and international locations*."

California not affected, fukk yeah.

edit: derp. California was never shipped to in the first place.

Tough decision for them. They're associated with listeria now, even if they made the right choice. I'll buy them again, it's a good product and not expensive.
