is that really a bad thing? is dl media going to stop being made? or go up in price (as if it isn't high enough)? I'm not being sarcastic, I really want to know. I'm happy with my dl burner, I can fit the whole first season of 24 on divx onto one disc!

actually it'll probably make the media cheaper. I'm just pissed that I'm almost always a generation behind in adopting new comp tech nowadays.
 
Yes, but 'Blu-Ray' sounds *just* *SO* *STUPID*!

HD-DVD, at least, makes sense. What's "Blu"? There is no such word! It's not an abbreviation for anything! They are just making stuff up!!

Oh the tragedy, you spent the BIG $50 on a DVD burner.

And I'm glad they chose a format, NOW FREAKIN' RELEASE A DRIVE AND MEDIA ALREADY! This DL capacity sucks ass! I need more space per disc! :|

Being a Sony technology and already in a cartridge format (MD, PSP), it'll be proprietary, and will NOT be backward compatible, which is a good thing 'cause I don't have to worry about my movie discs getting scratched up. Maybe they'll sell empty cartridge adapters for DVDs down the road.

BD PC drives are all set to go. Should start ~$250. Wonder what a blank 30GB disk will cost? Hehe.
