Interesting to note that the top electronics item is the HD-A2, the supposedly "crappy" (BD fanboi speak for "something that beats the crap out of my format in price, features, and value) is selling like hotcakes everywhere, BBY employees are saying that they are flying off of the shelves. It's not hard to see when you can get 8 free movies and an HD-A2 for $210.

Meanwhile, people who bitched about Star Trek TOS being 217 can now find it for $13X at several places online. Not bad for 10 fully rematered combo discs with tons of features. $13/disc is a damn good price.

Look to CEDIA to bring more good news for HD DVD. Naturally, all of this is nothing more than a desperation move from the format who just got another exclusive studio. Of course, Universal is ready to switch at any time...

Yeah, good luck with that line of "reasoning"
And you are talking to... ?

Yeah, this thread is going places.

I like your way of debate and logic. I could go back and repeat some of things you said about HD DVD, but I think we all know how those predictions, assumptions, and "analysis" have gone.
I like your way of debate and logic too - responding to statements never made. Like I said, new thread, same crap.

Go ahead and repeat what I've said in the past, lord knows no one cares what you've written in all the past threads, has your I hate Sony, they are evil theory come true yet?

Heck, even the Economist is now opining on this whole thing. Very interesting indeed.

http://www.economist.com/daily...ry_id=9689600&fsrc=nwl

As many have theorized, I think you'll see Warner/New Line go HD DVD exclusive, as BD 1.1 is now delayed well into 2008, Denon has delayed their BD 1.1 player into 2008, and Fox won't release anything soon, they just reiterated what they said before. I don't doubt you'll see Disney go neutral sometime soon either.

If they drop the price of combo discs and put them day/date with regular DVD but not release reg dvd, it's game over man!

This will probably go down as one of the costliest mistakes in corporate history.

Someone didn't get the memo

Blu-ray will still win the high-def disc format war against rival HD DVD despite Paramount's decision to back HD DVD exclusively.

That's the verdict from the UK-based research firm Understanding & Solutions, as reported by Video Business.

Now it's your move, find the next online article speaking highly of your chosen format.

So, it basically hinges on the PS3 doing well. Oops, it's sold about a quarter of projections and still can't even muster enough to outsell the 360, a system that's been out much longer. There are few analytical and market research companies I trust when looking on whether to enter into new sectors/technologies when lending hundreds of millions and that company isn't one of them. I'll trust the Economist over them any day.

Let me know after CEDIA and Christmas how you feel, I am sure you'll still be parroting the same crap.

Warner is not going HD-DVD. You can keep wishing it, that does not make it reality. If they go HD-DVD, the format war will go on infinitely. If they go Blu-Ray, war's over Blu-Ray won. If they stay neutral they'll rake in dual profits like they did with 300. If you were Warner, what would you do?

So, what's your rationalization for Paramount going exclusive? Heck, Paramount was even releasing on BR to a larger extent than Warner I believe. So, Warner, who only puts out stripped down BR movies, or none at all, is suddenly going to shed a huge tear at ending the "war" sooner? Any short-term "loss" they would take from losing BR players would be made up quicker by going HD DVD exclusive, which is exactly what they are probably thinking right now.

I think you're sadly mistaken and I am pretty sure you'll be eating crow pie before the end of the year.

And isn't that exactly what they have been saying before?

What about those impending Paramount/DreamWorks movies?

How, pray tell, would they make more money going HD-DVD?

Doesn't mean they are going HD-DVD exclusive. With their HD-DVD evangelist and Toshiba veteran Stephen Nickerson stepping down, do you really think going HD-DVD exclusive is in the cards?

My bad. Forgot that they announced some.

I trust no on-line predictions. Everyone has an opinion, everyone has an outlet to speak. The Paramount decision came out of nowhere, no one knew about it, no analysts predicted it, no one on any forum predicted it.

Parroting the same crap? You claim to know my history, I'm all about choice in content *over* choice in format. Go back and look at my previous comments as you threatened to do so, I've said specifically to you exactly why I bought a Blu-ray player. I'm all about informing the other person and letting him decide what's best. Find me a previous HD DVD thread where I entered claiming the true facts are that their players are "half-assed, obsolete piles of stinking trash"? Would you like to claim your irrational opinion as a true fact once more in this thread? Just asking. You liked to say I never let you put your facts out there, so here, just this once, I will let you lay out all your facts without me ever mentioning a word in response. I promise.

Also, what's with people saying that 300 is selling more copies on Bluray than HD DVD? The sales rank for the HD DVD version of 300 is #2, while the Blu-ray version is #5.

Heroes: Season 1 on HD DVD is #9 and Casino Royal on Blu-ray is #15.

Amazon sales rank is in no way indicative of real world sales. The PS3 was in the top five sellers for all of July (it was even above the Wii for a while) and in the NPDs it sold less than the 360.
