I just got my Lite-On Blu Ray drive today and slapped it in my HTPC but I'm having a problem with playback. The top left hand 1/4 of the screen will display a clear image and the other 3/4 will display blurred bars that have the same general color tone as the rest of the video scene.

Specs are
XP SP2
6320 @ 2.94
6600GT (yes, I know. My 8600GT will be here tomorrow, but I'm impatient)
2 GB Ram
PowerDVD 7 (came with the drive) for video playback
AnyDVD to strip away AACS an BD+
Samsung DLP displaying over DVI

Couple quick notes.

1. PowerDVD has to be the shittiest quirkiest software I've ever seen. This is the best there is out there???

2. I did update to the latest WHQL display drivers, which only made things worse. Movies would start and then crash (right word?) to the PowerDVD BD advisior which would then tell me my video card, video drivers, and display (non-HDCP compliant) needed to be upgraded.

3. I've tried every BD I have. I Robot, Kingdom of Heaven, and Pirates III, all have the same problem.

I had image corruption issues with PowerDVD as well. The only way to fix it was to install AnyDVD HD and bypass HDCP (even tho my hardware was HDCP compliant). I eventually said fvck it and got a dedicated player. PowerDVD is shit. Luckily WinDVD supports Blu-ray now so I suggest you try it.

I'm already using AnyDVD HD. I'll try WinDVD. Downloading the trial now.

Unfortunately the trial version of Win-DVD doesn't support playback of either HD-format, however ArcSoft Totalmedia Theatre offers a free 15-day trial that fully functional & offers support for BD & HD-DVD ... I'm using it now for HD-DVD & it seems to work very well, although it is missing a few features I'm used to having in Power-DVD & isn't cheap @ $89 once the 15 days are up.

You might however try updating your copy of Power-DVD by downloading & installing the latest patch before going with any other software you'll ultimately have to pay for as this may correct your problem.

All the patches I saw on Cyberlink's website were drive specific. Ie. use this patch if you have an LG XXXX, etc. My drive wasn't listed on any of the patches. Perhaps I'm missing something?
