Blu-ray owners, whats the best "wow factor" blu-ray you've seen?

I just got my PS3 a few days ago and watched The Dark Knight last night and it was pretty amazing looking but not quite as "wow" as I hoped for as far as really showing off what a blu-ray player coupled with a 1080p, 120hz, 30,000:1 contrast ratio, 5ms response time 46" LCD can do.

What one blu-ray disc has made you and everyone you've shown just sit back in awe at all its glory?

FWIW I still have Iron Man, 300, Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Indiana Jones (part 4) to test out.

I have some gift cards to use up and want to get something that's exceptionally well done and amazing looking.

Depends on the aspect ratio the movie was filmed in. Completely irrelevant to the resolution of blu-ray.

I'm saying blu-ray movies in general. Suppose it's an HD Monitor/TV (which I'm assuming you'd have if you have a blu ray) and you're watching a blu ray movie.

You seem to be confusing a few points of HD movies and TV's.

Just because a wide screen TV is a 16:9 aspect ratio, that does not mean that automatically all movies you view on it will be provided in that same format.

The same is true with Blu-ray. Take a movie like Full Metal Jacket. This film is hard to find in any format but 4:3, so even if I had this movie and played it on my 16:9 aspect ratio LCD TV with my Blu-ray player, it would still only be 4:3 ratio on my screen (in it's native resolution, unless I stretched it to fit) in this particular example, there would be black bars on the left and right sides of the screen.

This is just to emphasize that it doesn't matter what the player format is or what the TV's aspect ratio is.

What matters is what the format of the source/film/tv show, video game, etc is.

Turn off the lights when you watch a movie if the black bars bother you that much. :roll: Every fricking time... "How come there are black bars? I don't like black bars, I feel cheated."

It's not like people are being elitist AV snobs about this. If what your watching isn't the same aspect ratio as your TV there will be bars. It doesn't have anything to do with Blu-Ray itself - It was to do with WHAT you're watching on your TV not HOW you are watching it..
