BLTs are the king of sandwiches

Okay I lied, BLTs are tied for first with cuban sandwiches, but they're still excellent

I made a couple for dinner and in a spark of brilliance/horrible unhealthiness, I mixed some of the rendered bacon fat with my mayo (< 1Tbsp) to make it extra tasty. You can really taste the bacon

BLT's are the best. I'm always so torn between putting on fewer slices per sandwich, and therefore getting more sandwiches, or loading slice upon slice, but then getting fewer sandwiches.

No, a good roast beef sammich or pepper steak beats some skinny low fat wannabe BLT any day of the week.

Lose the lettuce. Best sammich ever is a mater-n-bacon.

White bread, soft
Mayonaise, both sides
Enough bacon for a single layer, about 2 strips in halfs to form a single layer, hot and fresh off the griddle
Homegrown beefsteak variety tomato or from a local grower, cut really thick
Good amount of salt and pepper on tomato

The sammich is all about the tomato, everything else is secondary.

Pepper steak = sub, we're talking about sandwiches here.

For the record, bacon fat + mayo tastes like butter

Tonight I had a pan fried, bacon wrapped top sirloin steak cooked medium rare, a baked potato with butter, sour cream, and pepper, and a Miller Lite.

If a blt is a simple king then Rueben is the emperor.

Not a fan of 'kraut, but otherwise ruebens are okay. They can be a baron or something

I hate 'kraut, russian dressing and corned beef. However, reubens are my all time favorite sandwich.

pork tenderloin panini with fresh mozarella/basil/oil, etc > BLT.

I prefer just about any sandwich to a BLT. why? mayo. it is the devil and should be banished form this planet.

i replace the "russian dressing" (wtf does that come from anyway) with deli/brown/dijon mustard, whatever works.

Reubens are king indeed. Then again, this hot pastrami sandwich at the Refuge in Redwood City (they have a few more locations, I think), is the greatest sandwich ever. Mainly because of the quality of the pastrami--thick, cured and peppered.

Mayo is good if applied properly. BLTs, turkey, roast beef (horseradish mayo) are all good matches.
Mustard is more appropriate for ham, salami, bologna, and most other cold cuts.
There's also a huge difference between real mayo, lowfat stuff, and fake spreads like miracle whip

You have never had a good tomato then. If you slice the tomato and put some salt/pepper on then eat it and your eyes don't roll back, then it's not a good tomato.

I  BLT sans tomato. I get the same sandwich wherever I go -
Bacon
Provolone cheese
Lettuce
Jalepeno peppers
Banana peppers
Sweet peppers
Oregano
Parmesan cheese
a LITTLE bit of oil and vinegar

Must be heated before eating

i like BLT subs from Subway. lettuce, onion, tomato, green peppers, hot peppers, black olives, mayo, pepper, cheddar cheese

toasted

get in my FACE
