What a grand nation we live in. When torture is protected, there is no hope for humanity.

http://rt.com/usa/news/cia-guilty-agent-kiriakou-063/

Former CIA agent John Kiriakou pleaded guilty Tuesday morning to crimes related to blowing the whistle on the US government’s torture of suspected terrorists and was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Kiriakou, 48, agreed to admit to one count of disclosing information identifying a covert agent early Tuesday, just hours after his attorney entered a change of plea in an Alexandria, Virginia courtroom outside of Washington, DC.

Whatever happened to liberty and justice for all. I guess that statement excludes people who are accused of a crime, but not convicted in a court of law.

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America,
and to the Republic for which it stands,
one Nation under God,
indivisible,
with liberty and justice for all who have not been accused of a crime,
if you have been accused of a crime,
GOD help you,
because the CIA is going to waterboard you.

I don't think its the fact he blew a whistle on torture, but broke some inner governmental law by letting information out of its inner workings.

If you or I were to pass by and see it and whistle blow on it, nothing wouldve happened to us. Different when you are part of the group doing it though.

He exposed the identity of other secret CIA operatives involved in the waterboarding-and he didn't have Dick Cheney to protect him by declassifying the information.

I am sympathetic to his whistle-blowing goals but in my mind to expose others to being hunted down in an AQ jihad is neither justified nor excusable-under any circumstances or any Administration.

This is the price we pay, the price we have to pay, to be free eventually. Once terrorism is dealt with it will go back to normal.

Promise.

:D

That is amusing, but scary too - because that normal will never come, not the way we want it.

The question here is was it possible to report a crime without committing another. Could he have blown the whistle without revealing covert information. If so then he is guilty.

So it's perfectly fine with you that he publically exposed the names of other secret CIA personnel? People who did the jobs they did based, in part, upon the assurance of concealment of their identity so they didn't have to worry about revenge attacks against them or their family?

"Following orders" is no excuse for crimes against humanity.

Under that opinion, nazi war criminals should have been let go?
