Blood: The Last Vampire (anime DVD) Your thoughts?

I had been following the release of this flick for quite a while... it combines cell animation and CG and is about vampires. woot. So, I saw it in fye the other day, and picked it up... 20 dollars for an 83 minute long movie. I eagerly poped it into the player and watched for about 42 minutes... then, it was over. ?? the back of the package says 83 minutes, WTF? Anyways, I must say I'm EXTREMELY dissapointed, not only did I pay 20 bucks for, what felt like an episode in a series...but it just left a bad taste in my mouth all around... the plot was extremely lacking, it was basically... this girl is weird, she kills vampires, she is sent to a school to find 2 vampires, she finds them, she kills them. and it's eluded to the fact that she is also a vampire... (which you could see from a mile away). The only 'cool' character was Saya (main chick) and you really didnt know her reasoning behind doing anything. The animation isnt even all that great, its not bad by any means, but the CG seemed like it was just thrown in there to do it... sometimes it was a CG background, or a train.... and just didnt fit.

anyone else see this (what people on Manga's messageboards call) Multimedia project?

After reading good things about this movie I got a copy from someone and watched it. I was just as disappointed as you were. Overall I thought the animation was good(some of the non-cg animation scenes looked almost like live-action). But the story sucked. About halfway through I turned it off. I'm just glad I didn't waste good money on this crap.

You all don't realize that it IS just an episode of the overall story. In Japan, Blood Project includes the anime, novels, and PS2 games that talks about different parts of the story of Saya. So naturally, when some dimwitted company decided to just license the anime and not the game or the books, you'll feel lost.

Encompassed in the overall Blood Project story, the movie is very good. But I doubt that many of you will be reading/playing the rest of the story any time soon.

~sigh~ then them releasing it in the states in the first place, is just to get money from people with high hopes, like myself.
