So they used to be 140/90, then it was 120/80, now its 115/75 is optimal. What the heck!? I was at 140/90 medicated, then I was at 140/90 non medicated, and now I'm at 130/70 non medicated, and I keep trying, but they keep lowering the standards!

When will this get to be 100/50 and I'll be DEAD trying to lower my pressure to normal levels?

On a positive note, the FDA is putting pressure on food companies to lower sodium content in foods. This will help get BP down for a lot of people.

Mine was 160/110 when I was 21 due to being overweight, smoking, and drinking absurd amounts of Mt. Dew.

Just do what I do, go to a supermarket with a BP check machine, sit there and run the test repeatedly until you get a result you're happy with. :)

Hypochondriac: A person who has hypochondriasis, a disorder characterized by a preoccupation with body functions and the interpretation of normal body sensations (such as sweating) or minor abnormalities (such as minor aches and pains) as portending problems of major medical moment. Reassurance by physicians and others only serves to increase the hypochondriac's persistent anxiety about their health.

Correct. Creatinine/BUN is fine, did the 24 hour urine, etc. Adrenaline was increased a bit, but no Pheochromocytoma (spelling) or anything like that. I think it's just because I was overweight, and I've lost 70 pounds and have about 20-25 left...

EDIT: And I know you all think I'm a hypo, but honestly, I want to live past 30! If I sat back and did nothing, my blood pressure would still be high, and I'd die at 30.

How is it now?

Now it's better. I've lost about 60 lbs, quit smoking 4 years ago, and avoid caffeine. Cutting sodium is a lot harder.

Typically measures about 134/78 now. I'm going to start walking regularly to try to get it down a bit more.

I don't think Mt. Dew is supposed to really have much of an affect. I'm allowed 4 cups of coffee a day. (high blood pressure here)

It's amazing what you discover once you really try to cut sodium out of your meals - quick Saturday afternoon lunch; a can of raviolis. Forget it. 96% of my day's sodium in just one can. It's amazing how bad it is (when you care and pay attention).

Uh . . . none of those figures are contradictory. 140/90 is borderline high. 120/80 is 'normal' and I suppose 115/75 is optimal. Could it be your BP is high because you stress out all the time?
