Which is why I am going with iPhone 5S right now rather than saving my upgrades for the next generation.

I just replaced the last iPhone 4 we had. Mostly because the user thought they really needed 64GB...now they are getting a 16GB 5S. Their total memory space used was like 12GB.

I have two 4S to get rid off. I have a 5 and another person has a 5. I have one more free upgrade right now. In six months, another upgrade is due...then six months later 2 more free ones pop up.

By next month we will be a family of 2 iPhone 5S, 2 iPhone 5's and one 4S (for an 11 year old).

I am OK with it.

Pretty sure he means, get ready for disappointment because rumors are the iPhone is getting bigger. If you like that size this might be the last time you see it.

I have to believe Apple will offer at least two different sized phones with the release of the iP6. I think we can safely assume they will have a 5" class phone and I suspect they will continue to offer a 4" class phone for the foreseeable future. If they do, and they'd be dumb if they didn't, the interesting question is will both be similar spec phones. I suspect not and the small phone crowd will be wringing there hands over it. There small hands!

Imo bigger it's better, but it has its limits. I won't walk around with a backpack in order to take my phone with me. I think things are almost at the limit now, but there's still room for improvements.

I think that is completely reasonable given their previous actions. In fact I think for the next year two of the three lineups will be 4 inches.

We will see an updated 5C for their midrange and the old 5C will drop to the low range. In fact I can see the original 5C becoming the first universal "free with contract" iPhone given its low build costs.

What I DON'T think we will see is any 4 inch model that will have a cutting edge (aka equal to the 5 incher) SoC. Apple is going to make size a reason to pay for the flagship.

The only reason I don't agree is because Apple so far has not made a new phone design for one generation. I think that from the start the 5C was meant to hold the guts of the 5S.

In fact I don't think Apple will ever again give consumers premium design for anything but the flagship going forward. I think the C's are here to stay.

So this year the 5S will turn into the 5CS (or whatever they call it) and we will get a new premium build 6 with a larger screen.

Then next year the 5CS will become the base model and a new plastic 6C will launch at the midrange with 6's guts wrapped in plastic. Then we will see a new 6S with the same body as the 6 but a new SoC.

Rinse and repeat.

I admit there could be an exception this year if only because the larger 6 will seem obviously premium compared to the 5S, but I would be really surprised if the 5S in its current form is still being sold at the end of the year.

I'm going with an exception this year to focus on cost savings and to try to generate interest in a mid-tier model with different colors.

They aren't going to release a new 'c' version every year. We'll either see two years of the 5c, or there will be a 6c this year and there won't be one during the '6s' year. There's no reason to develop a separate cheap version every year.

They won't be developing a new C version every year from scratch. This year's C will use the same form factor as last years, just with new S guts. Just like every flagship model they have made, I expect them to milk each C design for two generations.

I guess we'll know soon enough...
