Blocky shutdown buttons- fixable?

Hey there, I have an Acer laptop w/ Windows XP. The buttons I see when I go to log off/ shut down are blocky

They are like this in the start menu as well as in the box that pops up when you select one of the options. Some of the icons in the task bar (by the clock) are also grainy. I have a ATI mobility Radeon 9700 as the graphics card, Im not sure if the card is the issue.

I had assumed this was normal until I installed XP on my desktop machine at home and the buttons are very crisp. Any ideas what setting I have screwed up here?

Thx,
Joe

Yeah, its the DPI setting. The buttons look fine at 96 dpi, but everything in the task bar is incredibly small. I will just put up with or replace the shutdown/restart buttons. Thx fo rthe help
