Blocking porn sites

I agree that the kid will look at porn if he wants to. You can't stop him. I also agree that it is mostly harmless...but if she wants to control his impulses, she could install eblaster and then tell the kid that it is there. that would leave her with a clear conscience about snooping on her kid while fulfilling the need.

There is nothing better than imposing a situation where someone thinks they are being watched. They will forever self-sensor.

I also agree that there is no reason that a child should need privacy on the computer. If it is in a family area, that shuold be okay. They can still have a private IM session if they want, but there is always the chance that a parent might look in. That is okay if it is done in a forthright and respectful way.

this is probably the best solution and have already advised her on how to do so.
