I have dealt in cell phones and what not and Ive ran into a couple people where they had to call and identify some information about themselves in order for a credit check to go through on their SSN. Is there a way to go about and do this on my own SSN?

I recently got a credit check and CAPITAL ONE BANK has done a credit check on me almost everymonth THAT I DID NOT AUTHORIZE IN ANY WAY!!!

I would like to get my credit in good standing and I know that continued credit checks hinder your credit score.

Anyone point me in the right direction?

You have to "Opt out"

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="https://www.optoutprescreen.com"><a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="https://www.optoutprescreen.com">https://www.optoutprescreen.com</a></a>

Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Consumer Credit Reporting Companies are permitted to include your name on lists used by creditors or insurers to make firm offers of credit or insurance that are not initiated by you ("Firm Offers"). The FCRA also provides you the right to "Opt-Out", which prevents Consumer Credit Reporting Companies from providing your credit file information for Firm Offers.

Opting-Out refers to the process for removing your name from lists supplied by the Consumer Credit Reporting Companies, Equifax, Experian, Innovis and TransUnion, to be used for firm (preapproved / prescreened) offers of credit or insurance. Your rights as a consumer under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) include the right to "Opt-Out" for 5 years or permanently.

If you choose permanent Opt-Out, you must "confirm" your request in writing by submitting a signed Permanent Opt-Out Election form. At the time that you submit your electronic request, you will receive a confirmation that you should print along with the Permanent Opt-Out Election Form. You may begin the permanent Opt-Out process on this secure website, however, in order to complete your request, you must return the signed Permanent Opt-Out Election form. The Permanent Opt-Out Election form will be provided to you after you initiate your request on this website. In the interim, we will complete a 5 year Opt-Out request on your behalf within 5 business days. We will make your request permanent when we receive your signed Permanent Opt-Out Election form.

Through this site, the Consumer Credit Reporting Companies are providing consumers with an easy and convenient way to initiate their right for permanent Opt-Out. This service is not intended for businesses or companies.

also, do you have any sort of account with Capital One Bank?

If you do, they have permissable purpose to do a credit check. They would probably have it shown as "AR" or account review..

No

The only current credit I have out is in the form of an auto loan

I only use cash now that I got into trouble with CC's.

Waiting for credit to rebuild through auto loan and paying off Harry Richies monthly

Those type of inquries are soft inquiries I'm sure. Those do not hurt your credit score.
Its the hard inquiries that matter. The ones initiated by you, the consumer, seeking a line of credit.

Soft inquiries are only viewable on your report by you. The hard inquiries are viewable by anyone/company/creditor viewing your report.
