Is there a way to block BitTorrent without blocking Skype? I wholesale block all UDP ports 1024 and up on my Wifi router. However, I find that it also blocks Skype, and I was not able to receive one important incoming call, and one place where I was going to get hosting for my website turned me down because they could not get hold of me and got my voicemail instead.

Does anyone know that UDP ports I need to keep open on Skype so that it does not get blocked? I have read that the only effective way to block BitTorrent is to block all UDP ports 1024 and up, which blocks the search function on BT, but also blocks calls on Skype. Skype, is what I use for my home telephone service. It is way cheaper than a normal landline.

If this is your home internet connection, why not just not run BitTorrent, and periodically check with PackTracer or something to make sure nobody else is? (And if they are, ground them, presumably?)
