I returned a movie late into blockbuster today, about two weeks late. I know they have some funky return policy that includes some kind of restocking fee. What exactly do I need to do? Anyone have any experience with this?

this is normal.

Even though there is no "late fee", after like a week or so, if you don't return the movie, they charge the price of the movie to your account. When you return it, they should credit you the price of the dvd minus a "restocking fee"

Yeah no late charges, just if you show up late they charge you for the movie in full. If you bother returning it there is a restocking fee.

But remember there are no more late fees!

you don't need to do anything because they'll bill your credit card automatically. isn't that nice of them?

If you dont have a credit card on file - the next time you rent they tell you that you owe $x.xx... 🙁

If they tell you you bought it, then go back and get it from them. Otherwise they are holding your property illegally and need to return it.

But that's why people don't go to Blockbuster.

Simple solution is to go across the street to their competitor and leave them hanging.
I lost interest in Blockbuster when I was 16. They charged my debit card for a movie I returned. Tore up the membersh!t card and never looked back.

I hate blockbuster. they are claiming i owe t hem $8 from 5 years ago. i have searched for the corporate number but it is not to be found.

I know i did not rent the movie they are claiming and nobody else could rent from my card.

They give you an extra 7 days, and the restocking fee is quite different from a late fee - it's a flat fee, not a per-day charge. WTF do you want from them? They need SOME way to get you to actually return the movie.

How about a honest advertisement. The only way I even found out about this was when reading the fine print on their website. Restocking Fee on a movie they own is hilarious. What is there to restock? They put the movie back on the shelf like they do every other movie that gets dropped into the box at night. Even more funny is them charging full price for an open item.

They are going the route of the cell phone providers. 39.99 a month + taxes + Fees + Loan repayment fee's + Fuel Surchage + misc fee + super secret federal access fee.

They charge you whatever they charge for a used copy of the DVD, since that's technically what you "bought'.

They say "retail" or when possible "Rental" price on their website.
Meaning if they have the product on the shelf selling as previously rented then you get that. If the product is rental only you are chaged full retail for an open item.

However, if a member chooses to keep a rental item more than a week after the end of the rental period, Blockbuster will automatically convert the rental to a sale on the eighth day after the end of the rental period. Blockbuster will charge the membership account the selling price for the item in effect at the time of the rental, which is either (1) the retail price charged by that BLOCKBUSTER store for the product if sold as new, if the product is not available for sale as previously rented product at that BLOCKBUSTER store at the time of rental, or (2) the selling price charged by that BLOCKBUSTER store for the product if sold as previously rented product, if the product is available for sale as previously rented product at that BLOCKBUSTER store at the time of rental.
