Blockbuster sued over "no more late fees"

Good. Blockbuster sucks. THey charge after a week and half the stores are franchises so they don't do the no late fee thing anyway.

Instead of saying "No More late Fees," why not just say "Have an extra week" or "Take a week off" or some bullsh!t like that.
 
yea all they did was rename the fee, instead of being charged a "late" fee, they charged you for the price of renting it again or something to that effect, thats how the guy @ blockbuster explained it to me.
 
Just because a few dumbasses can't read the fine print everyone is going to have to suffer.

No. They charge you for the movie. And if you don't want to keep it, you pay a restocking fee. In effect it's a late fee, but they also charge you the same free if you return a previously viewed or brand new movie.
 
"It's not a late fee... it's a restocking fee".. that's where the problem lies. That you can take to court.

There should be no problem with them charging you the retail price for purchase after a longer period.

But how is this bad for consumers ? We're still given a whole week of leeway... with no late fees.
 
Theoretically wouldn't they have to make you sign an addendum to the previous contract?

Don't know about everyone else, but I haven't signed anything since the first day.
 
but in-store blockbuster rentals operate differently than internet based ones like netflix

if blockbuster truly had no late fees, people would keep their games, videos for months since they were only charged once for the rental... and not a monthly unlimited charge where there is an incentive to get the best use out of it

Notk, they jsut have to notify you in writing. Ever get those things for credit cards where they send you a note that soem policy is changing? That's all they have to do. Not sure on the time frames though.

Nope. They're "extended viewing" fees and the reason it cost me $12 to see Napolean Dynamite :|
