got it too... And I joined about 2 weeks ago.

But do I want any of those...

So cool... for free (1 month trial) we've gotten:
4 free in store rentals
6 rentals so far in the mail (probably 3 or 6 more before months end)
1 free previously viewed movie

Thanks I did not ever see that coupon. I thought it was the usual Buy 1 Previously Viewed DVD for $7.99 coupon. Thanks OP!

Any recomendations from the list? I'm not sure which one I want to get. I think SWAT is the only movie on that list i've actually seen and it was pretty mediocre.

SWAT was terrible... Mystic River seems like the only respectable movie on that list, and I didn't even like it that much. In America, is that the Eddie Murphy movie?

edit: nvm that was Coming To America

The Terminal wasnt bad.

The Terminal is probably the best out of all of those.

Incidentally, I tend to rent like 20 movies in the mail a month (if only the post office worked on Sundays...) so it ends up being very cheap per movie 🙂.

That movie was hilarious...I guess it does get a little slow at some points but..I thought it was great. You musta had some strange expectations.

Just as a comparison, I think BB wants to compete head-to-head with NF, here are their price plans:

BB:

1 DVD at a time for $9.99 a month (unlimited rents) same same NF
2 DVDs at a time for $11.99 a month (limit 4 rents per month) same same NF
Effective August 19, 2005 our most popular plan of 3 DVDs at a time is $17.99 a month
(a $3.00/month increase) same same NF
5 DVDs at a time for $29.99 a month plus tax same same NF
or 8 DVDs at a time for $47.99 a month plus tax you get the picture...
--------------------------------------------------------------------
NF:

Pricing Levels:
$9.99 Unlimited DVDs, one (1) title out at a time
$11.99 Four DVDs a month, two (2) titles out at a time
$14.99 Unlimited DVDs, two (2) titles out at a time
$17.99 Unlimited DVDs, three (3) titles out at a time
$23.99 Unlimited DVDs, four (4) titles out at a time
$29.99 Unlimited DVDs, five (5) titles out at a time
$35.99 Unlimited DVDs, six (6) titles out at a time
$41.99 Unlimited DVDs, seven (7) titles out at a time
$47.99 Unlimited DVDs, eight (8) titles out at a time
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Still, I'm averaging at least 6 DVD's/week, minimum 24-30 month or more
using the "trick" in "My Account" to speed up the queue. So $3.00 is miniscule
and BB appears to be fast (my service center is about 50-miles away and I get
new rentals within one day (so far), at 30/month @ $17.99 or $.60/title). However,
BB will "throttle" you if they believe you turnaround too fast. If they throttle me,
I'm gone.

The free DVD, I agree, is commiseration for the increase, but it is of course
limited commiseration due to the quality of the "free" DVDs. Many of these
titles are literally rotting on the "Pre-viewed - 3 for $25" shelves at the 3 BB's
I frequent locally. Also, many of these DVDs can be had at Hollywood for a lot
less than BB's price. But free is free... Personally, I like Hollywood much better, more variety (i.e. "Special Interest" section with many classics).

lol actually just picked up Wicker Park.. didn't feel like digging around for the others 😛 Not bad... Free Month of rentals and now free movie too and 2 free rentals.

at 60 cents a title, blockbuster is most likely losing money having you as a customer, considering mailing/packaging costs alone.

I can only get 3 a week max.

He claims that his movies never arrived or he sent them back and wasn't credited on the help page and tells the queue to send his next movie. I started doing it when blockbuster started pulling 6 day turnarounds on me.

Three a week! Just got my 9th today, after 1-week. No, I don't claim my movies didn't arrive but I do pursue the DVD issues in such a way I get 4-5 out at a time (in cross-transit)... It's no biggie secret. The trick is to watch the ship/arrive dates; BB gives a 3-day window which is ridiculous since I get mine within one-day, so the "trick" is to have good timing on sending them back and hit the 3-day ship cycle. It works until they try to trottle me. We'll see. I've been having fun with NetFlix: they keep sending me "confirmations" until I "finish signing up." I reply (not to the "nobody@netflix" dummy address) to customer service and ask for a month. When I do they just send another "confirmation." They are real dicks IMHO. But I'm also sure they are "good" people. Also, they're in Los Gatos, my old stomping grounds. Los Gatos is strange indeed...

Well, they did, indeed, throttle me, down to 2 a week, 2 in last 10-days after that first 6-9 in 7-days. Wrote them, promised me 2 free "e-coupons" (never got them). I'm outta here. Don't need the aggrivation...

i got the same deal when i was going to get my two free rentals, the one for free, but when i checked out, the girl told me that i could get two more dvd's with free rentals from the coupons on the receipt that came out of the register in addition to some with $1 off the rental fee. i got to pick from anything but new releases in the store, but only one at a time. i got one totally free rental then, and will get another totally free rental when i return the tapes i got the free rental on. great deal.
