Blockbuster Online is offering existing subs a free month to avoid cancellation

Blockbuster online, in an effort to retain existing customers, is offering a free month of service ($14.99), if you try to cancel your account online. (surprised the heck out of me!).

If you logon to your account and go to "My Account", under Account Details there is an option to cancel. When you select this, the next page is basically an apology for not having enough DVDs due to growing too fast, and asks you to accept a free month of service on them to allow them to make it up to you. WOW!

Just follow the instructions, and you'll get a free month, after the current month completes. It will revert back to your normal charge after the free month.

I think its pretty hot! Don't know how long it will last!

damnit i just canceled last week, i had 50 movies in my queue and as little as 3 available at one time. They need to get their act together if they want to compete with Netflix

got in, thx

i haven't had any problems with BB and i've used walmart and netflix.

sure they don't have every movie at all times, but i still rent 3-6 a week

I agree, I like BB since they are faster witht he turnaround then netflix was to me, but their availabilty is crappy at best.

Yup, that is why I hit the cancel button.

I think that is what the problem is.... they are competeing TOO well against Netflix.

My blockbuster page is full of errors and loads quite slowly at times. Is it just me?
Ditto that.....and the inventory issue really needs to be addressed, too!

I got the offer for 1 free month and it looks like it will stay available for 3 months. BB had throttled my account badly after 4 months so I cancelled. I might take up the free month after I cancel netflix in 2 weeks.

Ditto same happend to me except I canceled a little while ago.
Had a ton of movies just no availability.

On the page where they ask you what you did not like about your account...do you hit cancel account or do not change account to get the free month?

I clicked on "downgrade my account" after I checked off on the 1 month free, and it seems to have worked

thanks OP!

Clicked on "Click here and select the 1 MONTH FREE offer to give us another chance." and I get no option to check "1 MONTH FREE"

Can anyone confirm if this free month work if your blockbuster account is in the free trial period?

If yes, this rocks 🙂

I will give this a shot... but I am tired of 1 movie out of 20 shipped...1 a week even if
they show in stock.

I was going to change to bestbuy but they cut theirs to 2 movies out so they could
meet the 9.99 price point (and might be a way to keep disk in stock more).
they said that they had 3 at a time but discontinued this service.
