Blockbuster has a code (can't post codes here), for a free 4 week trial of their service of 3 at a time and 2 in-store rentals a month. I think you can use the in-store ones for video games too!

That's strange.... I went to their site, and it doesn't say *anywhere* how long their free trial is. There is a spot for a code, but, unless you start the signup process, it doesn't say how long the trial is.

On the 2 free rentals per month thing, you CAN use them for games, which makes this particularly hot for those that occasionally rent games.

After you enter the promotion code and go to the next page, up top, it says mentions your Free 4 week trial.

Nice post, OP!

I have been using them for a few months, love the quick turn around on dvd's (In SE Michigan I get a new video 2-3 days after dropping the old one in the mail).

A couple bucks cheaper. They show a little longer wait on some items, but probably faster on others.
The turnaround is really fast though. For free, you could try it, and if you don't like it just cancel.

The only reason I would go to blockbuster is because of the in-store rentals each month... my g/f and I sometimes just decide to rent a movie and she lives right by blockbuster so it would work out well just to be able to browse the store and grab something.

Other than that, Netflix works great for me... if I send the movie back on Monday I get a new one by Wednesday.

I want to do this just for the free in store rentals. Anyone know if you get the coupons immediately after you sign up?

Also, I have a question about these 'in-store' rentals... can these be out as long as you want or do the rules still apply to these?

The rules apply to in-store rentals. You can't keep them as long as you want like the mail-ins.

I did this last month, worked great. I must have got in at least 20 movies for free, plus the 2 in store rentals. I cancelled my membership after the free month though.

I had the service for two months; I had 40 movies in my Queue and only 1 available at on point. Blockbuster needs some work. Netflix is the way to go.

Everything in my queue (over 30 movies) is on some sort of wait. I'll be canceling and switching back to Netflix as soon as the 4 free weeks they just gave me NOT to cancel is up. I'm sure if you're into more Blockbusterish mainstream stuff then you won't have the same problems as me but hell, I've seen everything mainstream already except for new releases. :p

If you sign up for BB via searchcactus.com, you'll get paid $14.00, minus the initial ($9.95 + any local sales tax), first month's fee.
Giftfox.com has a similar Netflix "get paid to try" deal.

I got this promo but canceled after the free month. Can I re - subcribe using the same account to get it one more time or I have to wait for a little longer? How much time do I need to redo the promo after canceling?

The two instore coupons alone make it worth it. I use them to rent two xbox games each month. Not bad considering video games cost $6.99 to rent!

AFAIK, you're not suppose to have more than one account.. thus only one free trial... ever.

That being said, some people have said that with some of the promotional links, they can sign up with a different credit card and different email to get another trial account. YMMV.

Did they hassle you about cancelling?

Had Blockbuster for 2 week trial- turnaround was fantastic, dropped a video in mail on Sunday nite, had a new one on Tuesday. Signed up, paid my money, turnaround dropped to 3-4 days. Dropped on in mail on Thursday, didn't get one til Tues or Wed.

Free coupons were a big bonus tho. Only advantage over Netflix. I dropped Netflix, think they grew to fast, used it for about 6 months when they first started up. At first, rarely had a wait time on movies. After a while all my movies in queue were backlogged.

Might try Blockbuster again, for free trial.
