Blockbuster $24.99 + tax unlimited rentals for a month

HEY... This is WAY better than Netflix. I goto Blockbuster atleast 2x a day (I've got the 3 at a time deal). I went 4 one time. I rent them and go home and make "back ups" of them for blockbuster just in case I break them while I'm renting them. And then I return them. I've "backed up" over 100 DVDs already for them. It's only been about 3 1/2 weeks.

I'd say that a large amount of NetFlix's customer base engages in thsi activity. How many normal video watchers would have an 8 out at a time subscribption for $50?

Really if you think about it, the subsciption model, instead of a pay per movie model really incites this kind of behavior... even just from a finacial stand point.

I consider myself a normal video watcher but I do this. Well, me and a few guys from work all go in together and do it, that is. Netflix has a much better selection than BB, I think. Still, BB isn't a bad deal if you live close to one.

I saw it somewhere for 15 or 20, was that for online only?

I've been enjoying my first month for $14.99 and plan to cancel after that. It's actually been a little tough trying to watch as many movies as possible while also working full-time and having a life outside of the house. But hey, I'm not complaining, this has been a great deal. I just won't continue this at full price.

I know this thread is about Blockbuster movie rentals, but...anyone else besides myself go for their Flip-It video game rental deal? It's $49 for three months, unlimited game rentals, no due date (other than the end of the three-month period)--the catch is you can have only one game out at any time. Probably not worth it if you're not one of those folks who plan on renting 8+ games over a three-month span, but definitely worth it if you had "ulterior" motives...

On a side note--yeah, Blockbuster's video game selection (both titles and availability) is pretty lame, especially compared to Hollywood Video...

Hollywood Video currently has a three-month promo going on - $7.95 per month for unlimited rentals, three out at a time with a 5-day limit. After the three month promo period it goes to $14.95 per month, still a better deal than Blockbuster. The catch: you can't rent new releases until about 4-6 weeks after they've been released. The website says $9.95 per month but the location by me has it for $7.95 and also has glossy promo ad flyers that say the same thing. Check out the web site for more details.

This is good for people who live close to a Blockbuster and go there a lot. Many people who sign up probably won't end up going there and renting 9 movies a month to make it worthwhile and some will. Plus Blockbuster dosn't have to go after people that won't pay late fees, so this promotion is definitely helping them. I might do this for games though sometime to try. Whats the average time for Netflix to get dvd's sent/delivered to your home?. I did Walmart's online dvd rental service for 2 months, and it often took 3-4 days after they emailed me saying they sent them out to get to me.
