fuck them. good to see them go.

they fucked there customers so many times when something decent came out people flocked to them.

there is a reason things like netflix and redbox are doing well and blockbuster is done.

Looks like they aren't going anywhere, yet another chapter 11 restructure. Getting down to 100 mil is going to be tough.

The movie rental giant's U.S. businesses filed for Chapter 11 protection in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. As part of its re-capitalization plan, Blockbuster (BBI, Fortune 500) said it would attempt to reduce its debt load to $100 million or less.

I hope they don't make it. I remember returning a video after a week, no late fee etc, then receiving a collections notice that it wasn't returned. Workers found the dvd and then told me I had to pay the price of the dvd and I could keep it. Seriously, wtf?

Argued and the manager told me to cancel my membership and go elsewhere. I doubt they'll dig themselves out of their hole, they brought this on themselves.

There is a lot of small business owners hurting since much of blockbuster was franchises... about 6000 mom and pops. Feel bad for them. Netflix huge monolith and will raise prices as competition disappears. bank on that. Such is nature of business though come and go...

I rented gladiator for a school thing, and was too busy to return it for like 2 weeks. They sent me a collections notice. Redbox would have just charged me I think. This is why no one likes blockbuster.

Blockbuster express > redbox though.
Standard rental is 2 days, you had it for 14 days, and this is blockbuster's fault?

Also, the licensed copy to rent out is very expensive. A movie at walmart is only $10, but a rental licensed movie is more like $100. There's a reason they get pissed when you don't bring back their $100 copy.
