I'm really saddened that there has to be so much violence. I understand cops killed in the last couple days, but getting violent and killing more people is not the answer. I wish I could understand what is happening to us. Things seem to be escalating.

I was listening to a report on XM radio a bit ago and the news guy was saying the firing of heavy artillery could be heard, probably AR-15s. Are those heavy artillery? I know this is a tragedy, but come on media. They never miss a chance to spread misinformation, aimed at some agenda.

I could be wrong, but from the sound in videos and the high fatality rate I suspect they were shooting a .308 / 7.62mm. Those do "boom" much more than "crack" like a smaller .223 / 5.56mm round typical of an AR. Of course, "artillery" is just sensationalist nonsense.

Yes they will. Most times it's warranted. It's extremely sad that sometimes it's not. In those cases the cops should be punished harshly. You may want to fact search before posting, cops shoot and kill far more white people than black per year. The media just doesn't cover it as much. The Guardian did an article last November showing over 2x the amount white killed than black. While black men were killed at a higher percentage than they demographically make up however which is sad.

Non-hispanic white people outnumber black people five to one in the general population.
 
Reading over the articles, this does seem odd for an attack done in connection with a protest. It was carefully planned and sophisticated. Multiple coordinated attackers. So maybe it turns out to be another terrorist incident like some people said earlier. Oddly enough, it sounds a little like Benghazi, where there is a protest going on and terrorists use it as cover for a planned operation. I suspect we won't know until morning.

How about you all wind the rhetoric back a bit, realise that the whole "but guns are the answer!" comes with consequences and start listening to the people and their concerns.

It's a very sad situation we have gotten ourselves into in the USA. I think you summed up the thinking of the NRA in a nutshell. We've gotten what we asked for. What's even sadder is that gun sales will probably go through the roof again (yet again exactly one of the NRA's primary goals).

I mean, they are just doing what their idol did... You know, MLK.... He was all about shooting cops and killing whitey right? Or was it about peaceful protests? I can't remember....

Also, anyone who laughs and celebrates the death of people that have sworn to protect and serve you need to be sent to the slaughterhouse. I'm holding out hope that a day comes where they are begging for the cops to help them.

this is what I thought this morning, id always been curious as to when someone was going to go nuts with a 308. The media goes off about ARs because of mag size and such, but any asshole can buy a 308 pretty much anywhere and those rounds are no joke, especially if they are shooting a 308 win mag. It will sound like a cannon going off, especially in a urban environment with the reflections and 1 bullet pretty much anywhere is gonna kill someone
 
i woke up to hearing about this on sports talk radio this morning. this has completely taken over airways even on stations that don't talk about this type of news. very sad indeed.

and holy shit, the video of the shooter shooting the cop from behind ... wow that is just awful.

Both white and blacks commit the same number of murders while blacks account for 13% of the population and whites account for 65%. Therefore black people are 5x deadlier than white people. Police absolutely must be more trigger happy towards black people because of the statistics.

In 2015, 990 people were shot dead by police.

494 were white.
258 were black.

Black Americans account for 26% of fatal police shootings but are only 13.2% of the population.

White Americans account for 50% of fatal police shootings but are 63% of the population.

Based on the info you gave, Black Americans should account for 50% of police shootings, not just 26%, because blacks and whites commit the same number of murders.

It is clear that the police have actually been too SOFT on the black race. Looks like we have sadly missed our quota.
