BLM Baton Rouge police fatally shot man

You clearly see two of the cops directly on top of him and it appears that one of them reached down while trying to restrain him and felt the gun in his pocket. He starts yelling "GUN GUN! He's got a gun!" and tells him not to move. You clearly see two officers take out their weapons and seconds later the shots ring out.

Again, the shop owner and manager of the store saw the whole thing go down and said he never reached for anything.


Cant wait to see a 20+ page thread of ATers trying to spin this.

Because the witnesses were correct about 'hands up don't shoot' too right? Oh wait, they weren't. They lied. Eye witnesses are notoriously wrong.

Or the 20+ page of people damning the cops. How's about people wait for more facts before going overboard in either direction. If the cops are guilty they should pay the highest price allowed by law.

It's laughable that people are trying to claim he turned his life around. When he was breaking the law in more than one way. No real job, not paying taxes, probably getting free benefits, etc. Others than the kids losing their father, nothing too much to be sad about.

Looks like the gun laws some people claim will stop bad people getting guns look more stupid. Very doubtful he got his from a store, but rather from the streets. Where no amount of checks would have stopped it.

If they don't have to so commonly encounter guns and thus fear for their lives every time a person has a muscle twitch... then yes, your commentary is a legitimately solid argument to make.

No doubt, this lame ass excuse you just used is the same one the cops will try to use....even though the store owner said the police were the aggressors and that his gun was in his pocket and he had not reached for it. "Probably" isn't going to cut it. Did he actually reach for the gun or not? If not, this was murder. Good thing the investigation is being turned over for proper follow up.

Illegal possession (as a felon) of a concealed firearm is not grounds for taking someone's life.

As someone said earlier, convicted felons aren't allowed to carry guns or even buy them. He was facing years behind bar and so that is the reason he most likely was reaching for his gun. Either he wanted to throw it away or commit suicide by cop. Cops had no idea why he was reaching for the gun. Seems like they were defending themselves to me.

The very same people who defended California's new laws that maintain privileges for law enforcement that are denied to mere peasants are going to be the people blaming the police in this thread for everything wrong with the world while ignoring that the felon who was shot probably didn't have a legal firearm. Further, they don't even care about the race of the deceased except for the characteristics of the man who shot him.

Sad to say...but this underscores the perverse mentality we're dealing with here.
 
RESISTING? I see 2 cops jump the guy, and throw him to the ground, both were on top of him, and restraining him. Are we to believe that at this point he would even try to go for a gun, his or theirs? Also, if I were a cop, WITH a partner, and it was reported that the suspect was armed, one or both of us would draw down on him, while keeping a short distance. If he did not respond/comply to my commands, or he reached for something, only then would I open fire. The last thing I would do is tackle an armed suspect, it puts me, and my partners life in jeopardy.
Impunity, it's a hell of a drug!

I'm not aware of any evidence suggesting he was reaching for the gun. So far we only know he had one.

If it turns out he was reaching for it, that is obviously another scenario.

Because in an investigation your job is to get as much information as possible and then filter through?

When eyewitness testimony corroborates the evidence on the scene, you can put a strong likelihood on what happened. Take Ferguson as mentioned. While you have some bullshit eyewitnesses who even said Michael Brown was put on his knees and shot execution style (was it Witness 43? I read the testimony back in November 2014), you can paint a pretty clear picture as most acknowledge he Brown was facing Wilson when shot. The autopsies corroborate that.
