Blizzard theivery

I bought WoW and played it for a few weeks. I then cancelled my WoW account on December 28th.

I just noticed that they charged me for January, which is of course wrong. So I called them and they said that since they have no record of me cancelling the account and it's still marked as active, they wont credit me.

What's more, is they have a note on their main page that says there were problems with the billing system on that very day that I cancelled it.

If they dont fix it soon, I am going to tell amex not to pay it I guess. Is there anything else I could do?

Give me your account name and password, so I can get some use out of it. 🙂 What server?

Anytime there's been a problem like this before, I have just called, explained the situation, and they fixed it.

Blizzard is the first to refuse to fix their error.

I had a bunch of characters on Hyjal. I dont know if they are still there. I saw my account as cancelled online, but it was apparently reactivated and I dont know if that deactivation process deletes characters. I would assume it does.

Don't even give then a 2nd chance. Take a screenshot of the page that notes the error with the billing system and dispute the charge with Amex. Amex is great about stuff like that, they'll smack Blizzard and get you off the hook for the charge.

The question is....

Getting on the phone with Amex, on hold, waiting for a rep, explaining the situation, taking screen shots, faxing them over, etc...

Is that trouble REALLY worth $14.99?

I mean, that's, like, pocket change or something.

heh, one of my friends cancelled his EQ account 4 times and sony kept charging him and would not stop. he finally had to contact the credit card company.

Hey, McDonalds overcharged me by 4.32... I made the phone call to BankOne to correct that mistake.

Did you check the forums? There were a lot of posts about billing issues. However, it was my understanding that the issue reported on the home page involved people not being allowed into the game because they were not able to be billed due to a problem with the billing system. I don't recall reading (doesn't mean it wasn't posted) anyone being billed wrongly when they had cancelled.

Bliz and pretty much everyone else never deletes MMO chars...
they will be there if you ever decide to go back...

except SWG this is standard practice.

That sucks. does the account still work ?

Somewhere along the line they should see their problem and fix it for you.

FFXI deletes your characters after a certain period of time.

YES, amex will take a much bigger bite out of Blizzards ass for being unfair. it will get thier attention, they figure most people dont know that the CC's actually got your back on this one, and will be more than happy to take a nice hunk of fees out of Blizzards earnings for the month.
They might even try to get out of a spanking from amex by promising you like 3 free months or something, with no obligation to continue after that.

Gather your troops and raid the mainframe. If you use level 50 blizzard, you should be able to take out blizzard. No more fees!
