Officially confirmed on the front page of three major websites. Blizzard is beginning development on World of StarCraft. The info is sketchy at best, but the game is going to be a paradigm shift from previous RPG's. Screenshots
Here's what we know so far
1) There will be no 'stand alone servers' as in World of Warcraft. Each area of the world will have a unique map run by a dedicated server and travel between maps will be possible (think Horde/Alliance in WoW). In otherwords if you want to travel to where the koreans play you can, but you'll be using asian servers. I think this is an amazing idea and truely adds to the massiveness of these games.
2) There will be four races. This confused me at first, but apparently the Xel Nada will be an unlockable race for high level players. I have no idea how they are going to pull this off.
3) The game has just started production. No release dates have been set however Blizzard typically spends 2-3 years on a normal project. One of this size could take longer. Also keep in mind that they probably won't release this until WoW loses profitability.
4) WoW was created using 14 dedicated map designers. WoS is said to be using over 100.
