I just got the new Blink 182 CD (yes, I know it's been out for a while), and I must say I'm impressed. They sound like a totally different band. They're more emo than punk now, but I think they sound great (maybe better than before). It surprises me that the CD was parental advisory, because it has no cus words or bad themes. Maybe it's they're past reputation.

Do they talk about sex or drugs? That too will warrant the RIAA to slap a parental advisory label on an album. Anything other than flowers and teddy bears will get that.

no offense ... but I think it BLOWS HUGE CHUNKS ...

They obviously pumped it out just to put out a CD ...

I bought it mainly due to hearing Feeling This ... but that's about the only one worth a damn ...

You guys should buy Dude Ranch ... after I got the CD, I put Dude Ranch in my cd player for almost 2 weeks ...

The cd is "alright" at best. It just doesn't sound like them at all. :(

It sounds like they're changing to sell cd's. It sucks. I liked it more when they were PUNK and not POP. :(

actually it took them 9 months to record and they barely finished it in that amount of time. hardly "pumping it out." i'm guessing that dude ranch probably took them all of 2 weeks to record, and i speak as someone with recording experience. i have mixed feelings about "blink 182." on one hand i think it's probably the best they've done, but i was hoping for more from them. i've always thought of them as a band that basically sucked, but if they simply made the decision to stop sucking and strive for more, they could do something worthwhile. it looks like they made that decision, but unfortuantely the talent ran out and they couldn't take it as far as i thought they could. i think the amount of time they spent on the album, combined with the self-title, is a good indication that they are presenting this as what we should think of when we think of blink 182. that's almost always the reason that artists self-title albums, because they want it to signal either the band finally creating what they set out for, or reinventing themselves. too bad the new blink still ain't that great.

i gotta laugh at people saying this is pop, because this is by far the least poppy record they've ever made in terms of songwriting. yeah, the production is slick, but that doesn't mean it's "pop," it just means they finally cared enough to clean up their sloppy playing. and they aren't emo, either, that just made me laugh.

"Feeling It" seems to have a much bigger sound. But I prefer the Enema and Jacket CDs still :p Lemme have my share of Adam's Songs and Roller Coasters :)
