Blew a tire last night, and replacements are no longer sold :(

I was running the Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50 175/65R14 winter tires when I hit a pothole disguised as a puddle last night and blew one of them. It seems like the WS-50s can't be found in my size, so would it be ok to just order two of the WS-60s and have something like two new WS-60s in the front and two older WS-50s in the back? Would we have to throw away one of the WS-50s that's not blown? Seems like a waste 🙁

Yea you can do that as long as they are not mixed on the axle. So 2 match front and 2 match rear. Save the old tire as a backup just in case.

Also why not go to a 185/65 or a 195/60?

Sounds good. Guess I'll be getting two WS-60s then. Going to wider width as well I guess.

My inlaws just about ALL have Corollas. Some had the 185/65 and some the 175/65 tires. I put 195/60's on all of them when they need tires. I seem to find more 195/60's then the others sizes and the extra tread should help a little in bad weather.

Good advice there. I was in same situation and did save the old tire. Came in handy when another old tire went down.

If you have FWD, put the new tires in the back!

What's the reasoning behind putting the new tires in the back? Aren't the front tires the traction tires? (Toyota Echo)

a lot easier to correct understeer compared to oversteer.

Did you swear off ATOT? 😀

Hm, I don't know about a wider tire, I've heard narrower tires are better for snow (more weight to the surface area)
YMMV 😛

Uh make sure you have the same outside diameter or your speedo is going to be messed up. And depending how much clearance you have, wider tires could rub during hard turns. And wider tires will probably be worse in the snow. Yes put new pair on rear.
