Hell of a lot better than my local e.r. doc. Broke a stick off in my foot, e.r. doc gave me some antibiotics and said," Go see your orthopedic." WTF? My podiatrist saw me within 15min of my call and took the stick out pronto.

The job of an ER doctor is to make sure you don't have anything that will cause you to lose life or limb in the near future. If you're not in danger of death or serious injury then you shouldn't expect good care in an ER.

Since when? My foot was already swollen (infected) and the orthopedist would have been, at least, a 2 week wait. Except for the antibiotics, they were a joke.

 for my pediotrist.

It's an unfortunate fact of life. ERs have too many patients, so the guy with chest pain or the septic old lady will always get priority over someone with an injury like yours.

I don't know if you have anything similar in your area, but you would've probably been better off going to an urgent care center.

Went there first. They said, "We can't do that." I agree with you on the typical ER patient priority but I was the only guy in the whole place. That was a surprise in itself. Just looks like they want to do as little as possible while charging as much as possible ($400 or $600, I don't remember).

Dr. sewed my Sis's hand up in the office when we were kids.

Sorry for the late update.
So I get to the office on Friday with my paperwork. Of course, the office manager isn't there. Talked to the other staff member and she basically starts ranting along with me. She can't stand the office manager either. She also let me know that the office manager is the wife of the doctor. Also gave me her cell phone # if I needed any help. She told me not to call on the office phone because apparently the office manager/doctor have the office phone tied into their home phone (they can monitor calls)

I gave her a copy of my itinerary and a copy of my return ticket stub. The office worker told me to call tomorrow (saturday) at 10AM. I call Saturday morning and get the office worker. Ask to speak to the office manager and get the usual answer of "Sorry she's not in today, I'll have her call you back." I then identified myself and she said "oh hi! Hold one second, let me get her for you." She came back in a few minutes and said that the office manager would call me back.

About 5 minutes before closing, the bitch finally calls. I tell her that I hope that what I've provided will be enough to take care of this nonsense. She tells me well the itinerary does show I was out of the country but she did talk to me on Nov 6th. I told her I can show her the stamps on my passport showing I wasn't in the country during this time. The dumb fuck still couldn't admit she was wrong. In the end, she goes we'll go ahead and waive the no show fee this one time as a courtesy to which my response was, "I'll make sure and let APWU and Blue Cross/Blue Shield know that they should probably audit any charges from your office since you guys obviously have no problems lying your asses off just to make a quick buck."

Sent off an email to BC/BS and spoke with a rep from APWU this morning. If they do anything, good for them, if not, meh.

Oh yeah I haven't been back to these clowns after October. In fact, my wife needs to find a podiatrist and this guy was given as a reference from my wife's doc. After letting her doc know what they did, they said they'll stop sending referrals to them and gave my wife a different doc's name.

because if it goes to collections it ends up on his credit report?

I would contact the BBB.

dont waste you time doing that. the bbb is a COMPLETE FRAUD. they are only interested in collecting fees from members. they wont pass any judgement on what a business did to him, they rate businesses on whether they are members and whether they respond to a complaint. in other words, if he went to the bbb and said "they charge me 75 for no reason", the bbb would send that complaint to the doctors office and if they joined the bbb (ie, paid the membership fee) and responded by saying "we did that because he missed an appointment" that would be an A+ "response" from their pov

that is a really messed up situation that they could potentially damage your credit to extort 75 from someone. i dont know what i would do, id probably pay it without wasting time/energy on it to protect my credit and then not deal with then again and slam them on yelp

that is so messed up. I don't blame the OP.. I wouldn't pay it either.. and I would of demanded to speak to the doctor.

I am glad you got it sorted out, at least. They should pay you 75 dollars for all the headache you've been through!

Biggest red flag of them all.

I assume you have moved on to another doctor.

(I had a case where the plaintiff claimed he spoke to my client, in person, on a particular day. I asked him three times, "You spoke with this woman? The woman sitting next to me? You spoke to her on DATE in her office? In person? Face-to-face?" He swore up and down that he spoke with her on THAT date, face-to-face.

I then produced her passport showing she was in China that whole month.)

I hope the courtroom did a collective *gasp* and some lady fell out her seat and fainted....all dramatic-like. Then the judge hammered the shit outta the gavel, yelling for order or he'll put everyone in contempt. 😀
