RIGHT SAID!!

There was a Iraqi American (Iraqi Immigrant) on local news last night who emphatically supports war against Saddam, whose immediate family now lives in the U.S. He has family who still lives in Iraq. His whole family was imprisoned because his father voiced disagreement with Saddam's regime. He saw his father killed right in front him.

When the reporter asked about the rest of his family still living in Iraq and whether he's concerned about their safety, he said he loves them and hopes they are safe, but their living conditions are so difficult and so many thousands of others are so tragically oppressed that even their sacrafice, even his own are a small price to pay for the freedom of a nation.

He very clearly expressed an answer to what all these bleeding heart do nothing sideline generals are claiming when they say that "If the Iraqi people want to be liberated they'd say so"... THEY WANT TO BE LIBERATED - THEY ARE KILLED IF THEY EXPRESS IT!!

Those of you who can't wrap your tiny little brain around that concept ought to head back to the shallow end of the pool, because your argument doesn't float.

Bump for oldsmoboat's link to reality.

A leader who strikes his own people, what is holding him back from decimating other nations? Nothing.
How can anyone in their right mind argue for leniency on this homicidal leader?

RIGHT SAID. I don't know. It's simply amazing how the comfort zone of one's own ignorance and a popular anti-war slogan is thought to minimize the tragic oppression that is ruling unchecked.

Sketcher, while I agree with you, I don't think it is necessary to resort to name calling... IMO.;)

Belief does not equate to Idiocy, it may represent ignorance though.

Having nothing actual useful to contribute to a thread!? eh, it happens...

I quoted my own post because I didn't want to derail the original thread. And if you didn't take the meaning - it's important enough to me that it have its? own thread rather than being caught up between the intentions of another.

Besides, had I not posted - I'd not have received the attention of the hdeck! And though I see you've actually posted more thoughtful input into less humanitarian posts, I thank you anyway.

Hmm, let's put into easily-digestible terms for you . . .

for every iraqi that says sadam must be removed, you can find one that says he shouldn't.

I saw a news report today and they had both kinds of people. One Iraqi didn't want the US to invade because he was worried about people dying. Another wanted the US to kill Sadam. The truth is even exiled Iraqis can't agree on what the US should do.

But then again, who gives a sh¡t about truth an objectivity when it comes to this? 90% of the poeple are sheep and the rest are just cynics like me.

Marty, I'm sure those reports are out there but I haven't seen one. Would you mind finding a report of an exiled Iraqi that says he would rather Saddam stay in power?

Thanks.

I'll second that request Marty, and please make sure the reference is from someone who no longer lives there.

It would be really nice to see Iraq 5 years from now, liberated, making money..not living in fear of a tyrant.
The course of action is set by all accounts, protesting the inevitable is inane.

After all is said and done, ill wager the large majority of Iraqi's will be dancing in the streets.

If Saddam gave a rats @ss about his people, he would go into exile.

Yes, I absolutely agree that we should go to war to free these oppressed people. Nothing works better to end your misery than having a bomb dropped on your head. :disgust:

There are no reports of exiled people wanting Saddam to stay in power, but there are reports about exiled poeple (currently living in Canada) prefering saddam staying in power over a war. There is a big difference.

And if you want to see the report, turn to CTV NewsNet (channel 17 in GTA), I am sure they are still playing it, since I saw it this morning. CBC newsworld also has some excellent reports from inside iraq (guess what, they hate the US as much as they hate Saddam!)

Personally, I would like to see Saddam tired, convicted and punished by the Iraqi people through an Iraqi court. He must be gotten rid of, it's how and at what cost to human life that it's done. Killing a ton of innocent people to get their oil and control the strategically advantageous region under a pretext that they have a bad leader while alienating most of the rest of the world and inflaming the Arab world against us is not the way, in my opinion the way to go about it. There should be no wholesale bombing of Baghdad with shock and awe crap. If Iraq is against Saddam we just have to advance and it will fall pretty much without a shot. We can leaflet and order the population to safety.

One of the biggest issues with this and other threads is how one views life, death and pain.
By killing those who threaten ourselves and others we end pain and death. Yet, does the pain we end cause more pain and death than it was worth? That's the speculative and subjective part of all of this in a nutshell.

Blood Brothers

"Torture, rape, and mass murder are the family businesses. Saddam Hussein taught his sons well. Now the boys are eager to prove to the world that Dad was just a lightweight."

That is the family that some want to stay in power in Iraq.
