Has anyone called Amazon to confirm whether they're an Authorized Sony Dealer? I would think they are, but it asks for an authorized dealer on the rebate form.

That last review link put up by luv2save doesn't have the most specific information. But I checked this model at the HomeTheaterForum and those guys know what they are talking about. At this current price, it's a great player, though be forewarned that it doesn't play CD-Rs or CD-RWs.

Just looked at that review. The only problem is that &quot;windycityarheel&quot; didn't mention whether he/she purchased the DVD player from Amazon or another retailer. For example, 800.com is selling it and *IS* featuring the rebate, because I know they're authorized as a Sony dealer/reseller (whatever you want to call it). I'd investigate fully before purchasing. DO some searching for the TDK rebate fiasco not too long ago. Buy.com wasn't an authorized retailer and it took a HECK of a lot of yelling and complaining in order for them to honor the rebate, but the error was on THEIR end. Sony's rebate form clearly states that the purchase must be made at an authorized store.

i have this dvd player. i bought it about a year ago for $230, so at $130, it's a great deal! it's a pretty good dvd player for the price. the only complaint i have is about vcds. for some strange reason, it wont read any vcds that are on cdrs, but it will read cdrws. weird
