what do you people mean by disappeared? did you not recieve an order confirmation? can you not see your order status under your customer number? i am getting worried, but don't know what is going on.

Hmm,
I ordered a HD on Sunday and Dell seemed to lost it, so I reordered again last night, which amazingly, I got both order confirmation emails telling me that my drive will soon ship... With the drop in price, I reordered again, and Dell sent an email telling me they need to gather some more fiancial questions, so I called them... The CSR told me that the reason they had me call was because I ordered three HDs in a short amount of time and they were curious, but I was able to cancel my two previous orders and the CSR told me that most likely they'll ship out my drive within 24 hours, so I hope I get it.

I may just be over-anxious, but how could it take 2 days for the "In transit" stage? my order has said that since monday morning and i dont' believe it could take 2 days just to get the package to the carriers center. I really hope i get my drives...

Just an addition to the warranty-Dell not only sells these OEM drives to customers, but also other retailers. IOW, it's entirely possible(although not really common) that you could order this drive from a place like Mwave and not get a WD warranty. These drives all were originally bought by Dell at a low price to put into systems, which is why WD(or any maker in that situation) disclaims all support for them.

My order isn't even showing up..after I hit submit order, I saw what it said, and as soon as I went to save page, IE crashed..argh, I have no idea what my order number is and it doesn't show up in my order status online, does anyone know what I can do? I ordered very early in the deal.

Edit: I haven't gotten an order confirmation either.

If your status says "in transit" you are good to go, mine said that monday morning and I just got the tracking number this morning.

I ordered the branded WD1200JB for $202 a week ago. Expected ship date got delayed a week.

This deal came up and I ordered one on Saturday morning. I didn't receive the usual timely acknowledgement and confirmation until Sunday night. I ordered a second Sunday night and got acknowledgement and confirmation right a way. $153 each for me, I have to pay tax.

I cancelled the $202 branded one on Monday. Tuesday I received the first Dell branded one with the WD1200 JB label! My second should arrive today or tomorrow. Fantastic Deal!

I was one of the first to get in on the $125 deal, ordered around 2 AM Monday night/Tuesday morning, and it looks like Dell has charged my credit card today - my available credit has gone down. Still says 'In Production' on the order status page though.

Are you sure it's not just a hold that they placed?

KINDA OFF TOPIC:

Anyone find it kind of funny that Dell has these really awesome sales right before the earnings quarter ends? I see their quarter ends at the end of April, and they release their Earnings Report on May 16th. I'm not complaining, but the 20% off Dell Products show up right around that time. And really great deals on big ticket items do also. They seem to be moving out a lot of excess inventory right at the end of their earnings quarter to make the books look better.

No problem with me. Their gain is my gain in this aspect. But I remember someone brought this up the last time there was a big deal on hard drives at Dell... And I thought I'd check into it. And lo and behold, the earnings quarter is almost up again.

See you all at the end of July then, for quarter two 2002...🙂

I think dreday is correct. I used a one time use card # with a dollar limit amount on it. As soon as I hit the submit button, I checked the status again, and it showed the card balance reduced by $125.xx. However, I think all it is is just an authorization, not an actual charge. The actual charges go through once the item is shipped. So if it never ships, within 30 days, the authorization expires, and that money is available again.

My point was that in the past flubbed Dell deals, they didn't even do an authorization. The fact that the authorization showed up a day after placing the order makes me hopeful...

Come on Dell! Give me my drives!

I received an order confirmation email yesterday at 8AM but today when I tried to check the order status it says that the customer number (copied from the email) is assigned to another account. Calling in on the 800 number, the order number is still valid - "Released to Manufacturing". So I'm on quicksand...

Strange. I ordered several Tues before 9AM and received the Order Acknowledgment, but i still haven't received my order confirmation. How long did it take for you guys to receive the actual confirmation?

My confirmation email arrived a minute after the acknowledgement email. If you didn't, you can still cross your fingers and hope it comes through but it's not likely. From the sounds of it anyone that calls in to talk to customer service has their order cancelled right then.

My order has the same problem. I'm guessing that UPS is just being retarded and not scanning the package, because the UPS tracking page says "Billing Information Recieved".

Also, Dell must use LOTS of packing material! The UPS tracking says my two hard drives weight 7.50 lbs! :Q

I placed two different orders. 1 for the 10% off and one for the 20% off on the 22nd and 23rd.

I just got off the phone with Terry (CSR) and he was able to apply the 20% off to my first order, refunding me $18+ on the two drive order. So now, 4 drives/480GB for a total of $520.

The first order is SHIPPED
Second is InProduction

How long were you on hold? 🙂

About a 20 min call total, 18 of which I was on hold for one reason or another 🙂

In case you care... for those asking about the way the charges work... When you hit SUBMIT, an authorization for the charge goes through and your available credit on your charge card is reduced in anticipation of the "actual" charge coming in from the vendor in a few days. By law, they cannot actually put the actual charge though until the product actually ships.

I have ordered from Dell many times. And I can tell you that the following
is true 100% of the time in my experience:

If you do not receive an order CONFIRMATION within an hour or two (most
commonly within a few minutes) of receiving the ACKNOWLEDGEMENT, the
order is lost in a black hole and won't be filled. You can call and sometimes
they can find the order and fix things, but if you don't call, you will never
get the order. And if you do call, they may or may not be able to find it and
if they find it they may or may not be able/willing to fix things so that it
gets properly processed in the system.

Bottom line: If you don't get a CONFIRMATION notice, you have a good
chance of being hosed.

I ordered a 80 gig drive 1 1/2 week ago and it was supposed to be shipped long time ago. When I called they don't have it in stock and they have to order through their warehouse. But from their web-site it says "IN STOCK". What a bunch of liars. It wasn't even a hot deal. I saved $10 at the most. Their customer service is crap.

Bottom line.

DELL is SUCK

strange, i placed 2 orders, but cancelled one, and both order still in my acct showing IN TRANSIT.

just wonder if the 2nd one did get ship, is dell going to charge me for the second one.
