Spindle of 50 DVD+R for $14.99 clicky!
Spindle of 50 DVD-R for $14.99 clicky!

From the experiences I've had with Verbatim these should be pretty good disks. And for only 30 cents (~.033 with tax) a disk thats hard to beat.

edit: spelling

so are these better than the TDK from costco's sale this week? i'm running low and need to stock up.

here is the link to the costco ones i'm talking about

Silver, says verbatim on the left side of the disc, 4.7GB 120 min 16x certified on the right. Bottom centered are two lines.

Why does it matter anyways, it's the dye that matters! 😛

I picked up a spindle of these last night. Its purple dye.

It matters 'cause some brands go o'erboard with dark coloured text, logos and sometimes even otherwise blank space, leaving little actual blank space (silver, gold, white) for self-labelling with a marker. Generally I prefer totally blank discs such as unbranded Taiyo Yuden but as those sell for $20 and max out at 8-12x (YUDEN000T02) in +R format, I will happily snatch up these Verbatim if the branding ain't too bad. Quality wise, they are certainly top-notch technically and should be well manufactured even if not made in Nippon or Singapore. I suppose these are made under license by CMC Taiwan. FW thread claims the sale ends 1/28.

I bought the verbatim +r and the fuji + and - r . So far on my older burner the verbatims mcc004 are flawless but both fujis are pretty bad. The +r is a prodisk. (aren't they bottom of the barrel) and the -r is a ritek (should be good but I'm not seeing it.) Is it because I have an old nec 2500? Any one else tested these yet?

maybe, but since you've got flawless mcc burns, it's probably not your burner but prodisk and ritek. can't speak much for prodisk, but ritek is no longer the decent quality they once were. ritek is crap these days in the face of cheap ty and mcc disks.

ProDisc are pretty much crap. I burn them @ 4X for movies sometimes just to use them up but they're definitely not archival quality media.

I picked up two packages of the Verbatim -Rs today. They both say "Made in Taiwan" on the package. I am concerned that these are the same crap I have been getting by buying Memorex or Fuji. I have been told that Verbatims are top quality on par with Taiyo Yudens and that is what I want. If these are just Verbatim labeled junk like Memorex and Fuji I don't want them. Can anyone give me an idea of the quality of these discs before I break the seal? I would rather take them back then get stuck with another spindle of CMC or Prodisc which seem to be junk.

EDIT - I got my answers at CDFreaks and all 16X Verbatim is good quality made to their tolerances using their materials by different manufacturers we might consider junk but it seems they are even overseen by Verbatim personel so this is definitely good media.

Yeah, MCC-004 is real good media. It's right up there with TYG02 and superior @ 16X.

Must be dead. Both links show $39.xx for me.

edit: however, now they have Memorex for $14.99 (links below). Is the Memorex any good?

Haven't tried burning one yet though.

this week at BB is 50pk of Memorex (bleechh) for $15, and 25pk of Verbatim "Movie Reel" for $8. also at CUSA they have Sony 50pk for $15 ( great deal if you get MIJ  )

Memorex is basically crap, I have 2 spindles here I wish I could trade in. Their 16X discs are a joke. The Verbatim deal may be dead at BB but OfficeMax has the same deal this week....Verbatim -R or +R discs for $14.99 a 50 pack.

 I tried out a couple of these yesterday and they burned flawlessly without any problems. CD Identifier confirmed these are MMC 004's too, so I went back this morning and picked up 2 more cake boxes. I still TY's but these will do very well in the meantime. Thanks very much to OP for this heads up.
