Reasons Google might say know is because Blackberry OS is not Android and it could mean lots of apps won't work properly and Google doesn't want people paying money for apps in it's store to be subjected to a negative experience.

Another reason is maybe Google still sees Blackberry as a competitor and just would rather see them die.

I do believe Google has total control over Google Play and who can and can't use it. ROM makers have even had to remove it from their ROMs to avoid Google's potential wrath. If some no-name manufacture is using Google Play, they either got Google's approval (however that works) or praying Google's lawyers can't find the alley they are selling tablets out of the back of their truck from.

This is the other huge factor. I know a lot have side loaded Android apps on to BB 10 but they some don't work 100%.

Its wishful thinking for this to happen.. I'd pick up a BB in a heart beat if this was true.

At that point why not just use an Android phone where everything has a better chance of working?

The short answer is I've owned three Android phones and they were the most buggy phones I've owned. My Iphone 4 with iOS 7 is catching up though. Basically I'm trying to stay away from the OS.

I don't want to bash BlackBerry too much, they have enough problems, but I promise you a BB phone running the Google Play store/Android apps will be much worse.

The flip side is that I really doubt Google will allow it, ever. Google is counting on people using Android phones for it's bottom line to gather consumer data, why would they knowingly cut their own throat by allowing this? I think it's just more weirdness and drama of the faithful thinking that BB has a chance in hell of remaining relevant. (Or in this case of even making phones in the future, by choosing the new CEO, I think BB's board has clearly telegraphed that their future is not in selling hardware. My company announced yesterday that the iPhone is now our official company phone, another 25,000 BB's not going to be sold)

Yeah they all have problems. BB is a sinking ship for consumers mostly so that's why I haven't touched their new hardware. Since the news I've been thinking about giving Windows phones another shot. I had one when the new OS just came out and it needed a lot of work at the time.

If you are content with what you have, hold out until WP8.1 at least.

The revamp from WP7 to WP8 really killed forward progress from the consumer point of view -- all their work was spent on getting it running on the new kernel, new hardware, etc. And the small releases thus far (GDR1-3) haven't really added a whole lot to the show, they just added rotation lock and a multitasking menu.

I hope they do some Settings menu condensing. Supposedly some sort of Notification center is coming, I would like to see some actionable live tiles (ie, widgets) for simple toggles.

After a quick look at the photos I'm going to have to say they're fake.

The contents on a phone screen simply do not photograph that brightly or clearly. Especially considering that one of the backgrounds looks like a small flash was used (I can see the concentration of light on the textured background). If a flash is used while photographing a phone then the screen contents will *really* not show in the photos.

Check out the first photo here for an example of what a screen looks like when you photograph it.
