Is there an alternative application to Blackberry Desktop Manager that will sync my BB with my Outlook items? I can't install it on my PC and it's driving me insane. Is there some sort of open-source alternative?

In Linux kind of. Of course that means no Outlook though.

Agreed with */0. Why can't you install it?

Several issues:
(1) Downloading and trying to install latest version, I get "Error 1307: Invalid drive P", where drive P is my network drive. I tried checking the recommended registry keys relavent to that error, but didn't find any inconsistencies.
(2) Installs from original BB CD, but many errors during installation, and always crashes. Cannot start sync service
(3) Currently running Windows 7 RC on my PC, which isn't officially supported by the BB Desktop Manager software.

As far as I know there is no other application that will do this. Did you contact RIM about running it on windows 7 yet? they may be able to help....

I don't think you'll find anything extensive, AFAIK RIM hasn't released any docs on the protocol used to talk to the devices so any 3rd party projects (like Barry) have to reverse engineer the protocol first.

Try this it might work, I have had to do it for some Win 7 installs.
Start a command prompt in admin mode.
Install application from there.

Or you could just build a WinXP VM and install it in that :) Or repackage it with Thinapp.

Just a thought.

You just reminded me - Windows 7 has a Win XP virtualization module that might work!

That'll rely on the USB passthrough in VPC. Does MS give you a way to enable that?
