I could use a bit of help here. Does anyone happen to know the unlock code for a BlackBerry 7280 and 7290? I am clearing out our inventory of BlackBerry's. I am selling them on Craigslist for $25 each, which I think is a good deal.

Now, about 80% of email inquires I get ask if the device is unlocked or works with T-Mobile. I would love to be able to unlock all of these devices (about 50 of them) and be able to sell them a lot easier.

I found a website that gives instructions on "HOW" to unlock them but it does not give the unlock code:

http://www.gsmphonesource.com/unin.html

1. go to options

2. scroll to SIM CARD then press jog dial in once to select it

3. Type MEPD (not case sensitive) ( you will not see text appear on screen while typing )

4. Does it say Network active? if so your phone is locked

5. Press and hold the alt key (half moon looking key on the lower left side)

6. as you are holding the alt key type in MEPE (not case sensitive) ( you will not see text appear on screen while typing )

7. type in the unlock code when prompted

8. After entering the code press the jog dial in

9. Your phone is now unlocked!

Does anyone know WHAT the actualy unlock codes are? Any help and I will GLADLY unlock and send a device to you for free, or you could just help a fellow ATer out. Thanks in advance!

Unlock Codes are carrier and device dependent, e.g., 72xx on ATT would be a different code to a 72xx on another network.

The codes are generated by the carriers who have to tool to do so. I've unlocked a few BB's, but got the codes from RIM contacts. I do NOT have the tool they use. I wish I did... :)
