Blackberry professional software CALs

So I haven't been paying attention recently and apparently BPS has been replaced by BES Express.

We currently have a BPS server with about 5 phones on it. Does anyone know if there is still a way to get CALs for BPS or must we upgrade to BES Express.

From what I can tell there is no easy upgrade path.

BES is free up to 50 users. Also, RIM does NOT like giving CALs for older versions, even if you're willing to pay for it...took us days of yelling on the phone with them to get them to finally downgrade some CALs. Best bet, since it's only 5 users, is to just redeploy as BES.

I guess I have to upgrade even though I don't want to.

I never actually bought CALs for BPS, I always just went to the web site and entered the PIN of each new phone and added the free single CALs to the same server (not sure if that's actually supported or not but oh well)

I ordered my BES Express over 24 hours ago and I still haven't gotten the download link from RIM.

I've really grown to hate everything about Blackberries.. it's one headache after another.

I hate it too.

Try logging back into the site and see if it's available now for you to download. If you have a tech support login you should be able to download it through there. If not you can always install the full version as a trial and wait to get the info from RIM.

yeah they are not the greatest

sucks that the OWA translation driod/iphone do is superior to how a blackberry works

bes express has no user limit and no cals, but doenst support higher end features like office communicator

I can easily browse sub-folders on my BlackBerry's...

We are most likely going to dump our older BES. Possiblilities are BES Express or just move away from BlackBerry all together.

Small shop though, less then 20 devices.

why can I easily browse subfolders off my inbox on a droid using its exchange app, but cannot on a blackberry. it all ends up in the same folder all together.

I like how the droid and iphone work better

messages > options > email settings > press the menu key > select folder redirection. Select the folders you wish and then try.

Email integration is best on BB, whether you like the way it looks or not.

I have folder redirection setup 🙂

I just dont like how it looks and things droid/iphone did it better 🙁
