The only thing I don't like about the Pearl is the lack of adding memory to it. That irks me. That and coming from the Treo line, I liked the touchscreen ability. I do think the addition of a "normal" keyboard is a nice touch though...I'm still having some issues with the Pearl's KB now.

What are you talking about? My Pearl has a 512Mb stick in it. It takes up to a 1Gb MicroSD.

i have a 2Gb in mine, works great...maybe with OS upgrades it'll eventually support 4Gb :)

Snap! I've never even bothered checking/reading the manual. (Just haven't had time to mess with it much) On my old Treo it was accessible without removing the battery. Doh, my bad.

If you copy folders with album art in them they will be displayed on the media player.

I just upgraded my firmware so I may just try that.

Yeah I'm interested to hear that too. Been planning on a Q but the 8800 looks pretty nifty :)
Yes, we will be getting it. No, I will not say when or anything more except that the rumored features and model number recently leaked are accurate. You will definitely want to wait for our version though...especially if you're a GSM fan! ;) Google it.

Verizon isn't really on top of Blackberries. I heard that they won't be getting them until June.

That's because GSM always comes out before CDMA. ;)

Why doesn't it have 3G data service? I will consider moving from my blackjack when RIM releases the 8880 w/ 3G.

Goodlink is a piece of garbage compared to BES, and I've heard BBC doesn't work well. ALl things aside I love the blackjack

Huh?

WTF is up with Verizon anyway?

CDMA phones are now getting calls going through on our ship. I need to talk to someone about this.

I've never really had problems with Good...and I have to use it on the BJ (it's what work uses, and you can't use push to access. Only thing that sucks, I suppose, is the memory footprint.

I should restate that a little clearer, The Verizon 8800 will be a CDMA/GSM hybrid.

Ok that makes sense. Please pardon my cell phone ignorance. I wish people would leave them @home. ;)

I got 8800 and so far I love it. Navigation feature is awesome, keyboard is a bit awkward at first but you get used to it. The voice quality is much better than the previous models and the screen is bright and very crisp.

Like others said - the only knock on it is the network speed. While EDGE connection is faster than GPRS older blackberries had, it still takes a while for websites to load.

Im definitely a phone snob. From a Treo to a Q to a Blackjack, nothing even comes close the how well my Blackberry pearl performs.

The 8800 is one ugly phone. I am waiting a few weeks for the 8300 to come out. Looks amazing and all the features of the 8800!

Do you have to pay for an extra package every month for the GPS or is it free with the phone?

GPS is free, voice navigation costs money. I use it all the time. My only comlpaint about the 8800 is the keyboard. The 7200/8700 series had a great keyboard and I miss it very much.

So what is the cost of the voice navigation? Per use or a monthly fee? And what are the prices?

I believe it is $10/mo.
