Blackberry password not working...

So my friend decided to play with my Blackberry Bold 9000. I have a password on it. It isn't anything special, and I told it to him. Well, he didn't hear it right. So he inputted the wrong password SIX times. Opsss.

Great....

So I told him to give me the phone, and I noticed that when I input my password (which is all numbers), it defaults to letters for some of the keys ( the 3 key comes out as an r, the 8 key comes out as an 8). I inputted it once as such, and it didn't work. Then I noticed that it was on the wrong input type.

I tried pressing the 'alt' to get the numbers inputted, but it still isn't working!

Now I have used 8/10 chances and I'm worried I'll lock my phone. I'm curious to know if the default input method is the problem, and if I change it to what it used to be, if that will fix my problem.

Thanks

nope lol.

I also noticed that before when I input my password, everything appeared as asteriks ***, but now I get the actual letters.

Any more ideas? Or do I have to simply lose it all?

I would stop immediately and call your wireless provider.

lol.....call them... Its actually a AT&T phone that is out of contract and I'm using it on a tmobile network. They have it marked as "Unknown". I might use a friend's phone and call BB

Oh lol.

You might try connecting via USB and doing a backup with BB Desktop Manager? I haven't tried on a password protected phone, but I imagine BB would have some protection against just doing a backup without entering the pass?

When you connect a password connected blackberry to desktop manager it asks for a password and it counts against your chances.

When you normally enter you password do you hit the alt key or caps key, or do you just hit the keys? When I think about my blackberry password I think about it in terms of numbers. So if my password was 4258 in numbers what I'm really entering is SEDX.

Plug it into your computer, try entering your password with desktop manager. Usually a lot safer than trying on the keyboard in case the inputs are all messed up. Hopefully you can get in, and make a backup of it.

The wireless provider will not be able to unlock your phone. At least, when I was supporting phones for some of the regional providers, I had never heard of any way to unlock a non-BES enabled phone.

Actually....

to reset the inputs, pull the battery on the phone for 30 seconds, put it back in. Then try it with the keyboard. As mxrider said, you may THINK you're entering numbers, but you're really entering letters, which will make the PC input all wacky.

Battery pull (this resets any weird inputs you have), then try it on your BB.

I can't use the Desktop Manager because I have OS 5.X or whatever on my phone (I bought it from a co worker, and he decided to put the latest international OS on it for me. However, when i tried to use BBDM, it always wants to format my BB first and move down to a 4.X OS)

I tried unplugging it from the battery for 5 minutes and it still wants to input everything as letters :( I still haven't used my last 2 tries....

Looks like if you are not on a BES, then you are screwed (searched google and crackberry). Without a backup, looks like you are screwed!
