True. The phone peaks once a year, but I predict this year won't have a peak as large as the 3G launch. Unless they announce more than one device.

I must disagree with this. I wanted to love the Storm, because I could get a discount though my job on it. However, that moving screen was a huge pain, and the thing was slow as anything. Perhaps the next version will bring it up to par. Then again, the iPhone might be on Verizon by then.

Well, I get on with it very well. I'm running OS 122, not the latest, I still need to update to that or an OS5.0/4.7 hybrid, but it IS fast, stable and I really like the click screen. I love BB's and yeah, typing is slower than my Bold, but I've surprised myself with the speed and accuracy I have now.

Like I say, you need to update the device from the desktop manager, which prompts you automatically now when it's available. Unless you do that then I'll go so far as to say impressions on the device are moot. I even like the browser now that I have learned the touch shortcuts and that each bookmark can be have custom browser profiles. Who here with the storm uses the zoom and dashboard gestures? The email browse gestures? The portrait on screen KB? The great cursor position gestures? The real shame is it was shipped with such a shocking OS, essentially barely more that Alpha code level that that impression and stigma has stuck, but I think it is a much underestimated device.

But then if you knew the timescale that is was developed in you'd understand. With that knowledge the fact it even looks good is incredible...

PS: looks like you mis-understood my post. I was saying it was funny that my Storm dictionary thought I had misspelled 'Phone' when I typed 'iPhone' and auto-corrected it for me and I agreed to it doing that without thinking before I hit reply.

It's on many different networks though, hell even Nextel has one lol. Not hard to be the #1 phone when regardless of your provider you can get one. I would've assumed the Pearl would be a better seller seeing how you can get it for free often times. Also gotta factor in all the business's that strictly use Blackberries too.

If by the July thing you mean the iPhone 3 will knock it off, Doubtful. It'll surely get outsold by the iPhone on AT&T's network. But Blackberry has a Curve with every provider, I think even MetroPCS & Cricket has on. And you can also get it for $50-100 bucks with a contract. I'm guessing the cheapest the new iPhone will be is $200, maybe more.

Yes, but wasn't the curve on those same networks when the iPhone held the crown? Two things pushed the curve to the top spot. The first is Verizon's buy one get one free deal, and the second is the fact that iPhone sales have slowed to a crawl, because anybody who wants one, is now waiting for the new model.

I don't think so. I haven't seen anything about it. You should ask him for a link.

Anything xx50 is IDEN, so he's probably thinking of the 8350 on Sprint. The 8900 is the latest Curve until 'Gemini' is released.

There is a curve 8900 though. It may be some sprint or other non GSM carrier version.

8900 is the latest Curve, EDGE only with WiFI and GPS. There has not been a CDMA, UMTS or IDEN version released yet.

No, the 8900 is not 3G, it's only an EDGE phone, like DivideBYZero said. I would get the Bold for that reason alone. There are rumors that at&t plans to cut the price of the Bold when they start selling the 8900, sometime this month. If you don't have a problem with at&t, then I would wait. They are suppose to drop the Bold to $200, and the 8900 will be $150.

As far as 4G goes, it is coming. Verizon has said that they will start to deploy it before the end of the year, and at&t will start sometime in 2010.

The CDMA Verizon Curve is being replaced by the "Tour". Don't know what model number it is. BB decided to do a mash up of the Bold and Curve "II" for the Tour. Meaning that the 3G CDMA EVDO stuff can't fit into the slightly slimmer new Curve. But it's still small compared to the Bold.
Curve like buttons, High Res screen, Bold like styling.

All I want is a used VZ Curve. My Pearl is driving me nuts with it's small memory. And my 2 in 2 isn't until this December. Argh.
