I need to get a phone for just one year and I want to get one ASAP (that will sync with my new Mac). I'm on a family plan with a really incredible discount so I think getting a phone with a one year contract wont be a problem (nothing like threating to pull a corporate account and get an iPhone to try to get what you want) :p

Anyways, Does anyone know if/when the Blackberry Bold is coming to Sprint?

Thanks!

I haven't heard anything - rumors or otherwise - about Sprint getting a Blackberry Bold. It's a fact that a CDMA Bold has not cleared the FCC yet - which would mean that there's no way there will be a Bold on either Verizon or Sprint in the next 1-2 months. I wouldn't expect a Bold on CMDA until at least 3 months after AT&T releases it... and if it did come to CDMA, then I would be more likely to bet that Verizon (with it's deeper pockets) would get it instead of Sprint.

I would almost expect a BlackBerry Thunder before a Bold on the Sprint network. Unless VZW has an exclusive deal with RIM.

Thunder is definitely going exclusively to Verizon - or at least that's what the rumors consistently say.

Here is the most interesting part, though: it will launch as a worldwide lifetime exclusive on Verizon and Vodafone!

and, this time from the more prestigious Wall Street Journal:

Dubbed Thunder, it's only got four physical keys and it'll be exclusive to Verizon Wireless in the US and Vodafone abroad.

So would you all recommend me getting a Blackberry Curve? Sprint has those now. Also I heard the Bold is gonna have new software that can sync with iTunes. I have a Mac with a TON of iTunes songs (need to figure out how to convert my DRMed songs but thats another matter :p ) - anyways, if they release this update in the Bold would I be able to get the same update + software to be able to do that on a current generation Curve?

Depends on how RIM does it. It might be available on the Curve, it might not. I would hope that it is though.

You will be able to use the new Desktop Manager(This is what syncs with iTunes) with older devices such as the Curve.

Apparently non-DRM aac work, but I have not tested this.

I think it's plausible... but I have no idea if it's true or not. About the only one who would know is DivideByZero, but I doubt he's able to say anything.

What do you guys think of this? Is it legit?

The only thing to consider is the following:-

- Bold is not Carrier exclusive
- CDMA support is catching up with GSM releases

Other than that it's just a waiting game, but we should all be able to buy Bolds at GSM carriers in the next month or so.

So the Bold isn't due out on ATT for 1-2 months more? And then I assume CDMA will be 2 months after that. Bah look slike the Curve is the winning choice

There have been rumors of an August to September release for the Bold, but no one knows, and many people have tried, until the official word comes from at&t. At this time, if you dont need the higher data speed, and new OS the curve is definitely a great option

OS 4.5 is 9/10ths of 4.6, do get a Curve and ensure it has that OS. All new devices are shipping with 4.5 now.*

*At least they should be, but old stock in stores may still be 4.3.

The Bold will be a very early September ATT release. At least as of last week.
