It looks pretty slick, easy to use, free apps are pretty damn good (slacker, bloomberg, and facebook so far). Ill be downloading some others once I get an SD card for it. Overall first impressions are pretty good though.

How do you get them to the SD card? It seems to me like its only going on to the on device memory.

I've downloaded Bloomberg, vLingo, Flycast and paid for the game Nintaii. Store is very fast and slick.

Apps always use device mem. Not a problem on the devices that have 1Gb, but tougher on the older 64Mb devices.

Another great feature is the option to uninstall apps you have downloaded from the App World itself. No more digging into the options menu. Not only that the device now prompts you to reboot if you need to windows style, with up to 5 reminders before an enforced reboot.

I've downloaded Bloomberg, but already had Facebook and a couple others. I'm amazed at how fast the store is and how easy it is to navigate. The only disappointment so far is that a lot of the apps are available on my Storm, but do not function properly with just a touch screen.

See if you can find Facebook v1.5. I've been running it for about a month and it is MUCH better than the previous version. The contact app integration is really cool, updating contact phone details if you request it and updating the contact picture with their FB profile pic for when they call or send an email.

The app store ran fine on my 8830, but i just picked up a Storm last night and I'm anxious to try it out on that.

I just sold my G1 today to get back in bed with Blackberry. Paid full retail for an unlocked Bold.

I hope the marketplace is better than the G1's. And by that, I mean I hope the apps are more useful.

I'm actually quite surprised at how many apps are up so far, but I feel like many of them are way overpriced.

Whats the application memory? Mines only 8 mb but it seems like all the applications are loading there.

Yeah, app mem is where it's stored. My bad. The newer devices have 256Mb. The Pearls only have 64Mb. This memory has to run the core OS and apps, too, so you lose ~50Mb of whatever you have to start with.

Ive got a new Storm about 2 weeks ago. After a reset and deleting some programs, Ive got 40 MB in application memory, 880mb in device memory, and 8 gb in the media card. Youd think there would be some way for apps to use the device memory, the application memory goes fast.

There is a way to use the Media Card to run and install apps.

Aerize Card Loader app does this and there is a free trial on App World. Now with the right firmware 32Gb is your only limit.

I was reading on this and it sounds like it just stores the apps on the card but doesn't actually run them from the card. It just removes them/adds them back to the device as you want to use them. So basically you'll lose any custom settings for each app every time you "unload/load" it
